    Immigrant Mentality - Episode 6

    Immigrant Mentality - Episode 6

In this episode I have a chat with Jane about why having Black and Minority Ethnic teachers, educators and educational policy makers, is important in raising intelligent, socially and culturally aware young people.
We also touch on her experience as a "poor kid, living a rich life", at the mercy of an unfair sponsor, having immigrant mentality, and how her parents' courage and determination has inspired her to be a pioneer for change, in the future.

You've Never Failed? You're Doing Something Wrong! - Episode 5

You've Never Failed? You're Doing Something Wrong! - Episode 5

In this episode I have a chat with Zainab about why failure is important and why avoiding it at all costs actually does more harm than good. With everyone talking about New Year's Resolutions at the moment, this episode is even more relevant to the current times. Just because there's a possibility you might fail at something, isn't a reason not to do it, and just because you've failed at something before, doesn't mean you shouldn't give it another try.
Embrace failure, and learn from it;  it's a crucial part of the process.

I Will Not Be Silenced - Episode 4

In today's episode, I have a chat with Ridwan and we talk about everything from her experience growing up as a Black girl in the Middle East, gaslighting, microaggressions, identity and intersectionality; to correcting and disrespecting misinformed elders; as well as the importance of good friendships and fresh perspectives on personal development.
This is definitely one you should talk to your friends about!

Hitting the Refresh Button on 2020: Coronavirus Chronicles - Episode 3

Hitting the Refresh Button on 2020: Coronavirus Chronicles - Episode 3

Against all the odds, we’ve got some vaccines! … well, kind of. It seems like after such a tumultuous year, we may be seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. After getting over my initial shock and scepticism about how quickly these vaccines have been developed, and reading a bit more about their development, the scientist in me is actually very impressed. Could this be the start of a positive spin on the dreadful year that has been 2020?
Whether 2020 has more bad news in store for us, I don’t know, but I do know that those of us that are still here are extremely lucky. Are you counting down the days until Jan 1st 2021 to put all this behind you and start afresh? Why are you waiting?

Don’t wait until 2021 to hit that refresh button. Do it now. Whatever it is that you’ve been wanting to try, build, develop, create…. Do it. Don’t let COVID steal any more of your time. Start putting things in motion, the time is now.

Coronavirus Chronicles - Episode 2 feat. Bode Nathaniel

Coronavirus Chronicles - Episode 2 feat. Bode Nathaniel

Throwback to just after the Boris Johnson's announcement of a second national lockdown in the UK. Bode's back again, but this time we talk about all things Coronavirus, lockdowns and conspiracy theories.
He thinks I'm too trusting of the government, and that the negative side effects of lockdowns far outweigh the positives, but I think he's missing the point and downplaying the virus' severity.
What do you think? Do lockdowns work? Should we have gone into a second lockdown? Have your thoughts changed, over the last 4 weeks?

I've never been so disappointed to be Nigerian #ENDSARS #SOROSOKE - Episode 1 feat. Bode Nathaniel

I've never been so disappointed to be Nigerian #ENDSARS #SOROSOKE - Episode 1 feat. Bode Nathaniel

I have a chat with my friend Bode about the #EndSARS movement in Nigeria, we unpack our thoughts and feelings about the situation, the Nigerian Government’s stance (and, of course, the brutal Lekki Massacre). We also discuss potential ways to help, even if you’re living in the diaspora,  and why people who aren’t Nigerian should even care.
