Adventures With Jesus, Today Lisa van den Berg

“Jesus, help!”
 
I found myself saying this a few weeks ago as my husband and I sat praying together before bed.
 
I had a hip replacement operation in April, and it was a hard road to recovery for me.
 
On this particular day, everything seemed to be so, so heavy. I was in a lot of pain, I was tired, I was feeling weak and there was a heavy cloud of despair over me that I couldn’t seem to move.
 
My normally positive and strong personality felt like she had gone away - and I had literally nothing left to give.
 
As we sat and looked at each other, all I could do was say, “Jesus, help”. With tears streaming down my face, I curled up and went to sleep.
 
Then something happened during the night.
 
All I know is that I woke up and the cloud of despair that had felt so heavy the night before – was GONE. I don’t know how He did it, I just know that He heard me and He took the cloud away!
 
As you watch or listen to today’s episode let Him show you (in Psalm 91) what it looks like to be ‘under the shadow of the Almighty’ and how He will fight your battles with you (and cause you to win!)

Imagine having a conversation with someone and they turn their back to you, mid-sentence.
Ummmm….
"Hello, we were just talking and you turned your back to me. What’s going on?"
 
It wouldn’t feel good right?
We all want to be wanted.
We all want to know that someone else is interested in spending time with us, hearing us, listening to what we want to share.
 
It’s just human nature.
So when we read a stunning verse like Psalm 27:8, everything in us pays attention, BECAUSE we KNOW that God WANTS to spend time with us.
 
Stop and think about that for a moment. GOD, wants to spend time with you!!!

Imagine being invited to partner with the Creator of the Universe?
Oh My Goodness! Doesn’t that just blow your mind?
Well, it’s true.
 
God Almighty is inviting you to ‘be about your Father’s business’ like Jesus was.
 
It’s an invitation to ‘do what you see the Father doing’ and ‘say what you hear the Father saying’. It’s mind-blowing.
 
And…it’s a little scary too, because you don’t quite know what He’s going to ask you to do, right?

Do you remember the lyrics of the song ‘On Christ The Solid Rock I Stand’?
The chorus goes like this:
“On Christ the solid rock I standAll other ground is sinking sand”
 
It’s based on the Truth in Matthew 7:24-27 where Jesus says that if we will listen to His teaching and obey it, then we will be like people who build their house on solid rock (instead of sinking sand).
 
Now that just sounds like good sense to me!
 
But let’s face it - there are places that feel wobbly in all of our lives. Places where we still have fear, anxiety and worry. Places where we’re struggling to find hope. Places where breakthrough seems like a far off dream. This is the nature of everyday life.
 
But as you watch or listen to today’s episode you will find new hope and courage as you ask Jesus for help you stand on the stability that ONLY He can offer in your life.
 
It’s a game changer for sure.
