Working mom - An attorney for 21 years specializing in childbirth cases.
Parenting and working has always been a challenge, particularly since I am married to a busy business owner.

My husband and I worked together closely when raising kids, plus had great support from his parents. This allowed me to travel the country for work.

I am also a bestselling author and that journey did require me to spend less time with my family. It took 14 months and 1000's of hours to write the book. I get up at 3:00 am everyday and usually in bed between 7pm and 8pm. The book was published in June 2023.

Author of the Book a "A Parent's Guide to a Safer Childbirth." As an attorney that specializes in childbirth cases, I have analyzed the mistakes that are made during labor and delivery. Drawing on this knowledge, I authored the book "A Parent's Guide to a Safer Childbirth" to help parents prevent these mistakes and have a healthy baby. Rather than merely getting involved after an unfortunate mistake was made, I am getting involved before childbirth to help prevent these mistakes.

*Most people get into birth work because they had a very negative birth experience. That's not my story. I became a doula in 2001, long before it was a common term.
*Then, from about ages 24-29, I apprenticed with a home birth midwife, mostly to the Amish community.
*It was during this time that I became aware of just how common fertility challenges and miscarriages are.
*I took my nutrition education/experience and coupled it with my career in birth work (doula, prenatal/postpartum yoga instructor, placenta encapsulation specialist, founder of a doula collective that gave workshops on topics like making birth plans, breastfeeding, baby wearing, etc.) and began focusing on fertility optimization.
*When my first daughter (both born at home) was a toddler, I began doing research for a naturopath on MTHFR & methylation
*That exploded into a comprehensive functional genomic analysis that I use today to support my clients to get to foundational causes of puzzling health challenges, like fertility.

LOCAL EDITION EPISODE!

I've been a pseudo-stepmom to my boyfriend's two kids since entering their lives five years ago. We waited a long while before I even met his now 18-year-old daughter and now 12-year-old son.

We've very much taken everyone else's perspectives and experiences into consideration when it has come to the pace of our relationship. We're absolutely soulmates, but we're not married yet simply for bigger-picture reasons and also some financial reasons. Although marriage has always been part of the conversation. 

We have my boyfriend's two kids 50% of the time, week on and week off. The daughter graduates high school this year, so changes are definitely in store in the coming months.

I personally always desired/chose to be child-free. However, I made the choice to accept and welcome my boyfriend's kids into my life. On the good days, I feel like I'm getting a piece of something that I would've not experienced being child-free. But on the tough days, it can be extra hard. I just super appreciate everything my boyfriend has done to help secure respectful relationships between me and his kids.

I own Kaia FIT Sierra, a women's fitness and nutrition program with four Reno-Sparks studios that are accessible to all members, as well as online workout options. We focus on personalized training in a group atmosphere through eight group class types to help women find their hard, have fun, achieve their goals, and connect with our community of supportive women.

I also manage social media accounts for several small business clients. I have a 19-year background in all things journalism/media/marketing, which has made me an expert in all things social media, including graphic design (which I occasionally teach a class about at the University of Nevada, Reno). 

I'm also exploring getting into the commercial real estate market. We'll see!
