#010 Luna Coffee House, coffee, and local artists – Jorge Banda
04/18/2019
Inside of Luna coffee house in McAllen, right in front of the Hollywood theater on Nolana and 10th, I sit with Jorge Banda, the co-owner of the shop. Together with his wife Cynthia and her daughter, Luna, they provide a space for people to relax and enjoy the coffee and their great frappes. The walls filled with artists’ works, they have helped in creating a space for artist to gather and connect. When I came in to do the podcast to the shop, they offered me the Java chip, where I fell in love with their drink. Our conversation ranged from his background and his life, about the local artists, and of their Saturday open mic night. In this podcast you really get to know Jorge.

#009 Talking McAllen library services- Rachelle and Leslie
04/16/2019
I have this idea still that libraries are boring. While I was passing by, I saw my old highschool friend Leslie. We started talking, and she just had so much to say, and had such a fun time, that I asked her to join me for a podcast episode.
We ended up getting together at PJ’s pies for the podcast, on the corner of Dove and McColl in McAllen, and there we met with her co-worker and friend Rachelle. We start recording, and they share with us all the services that they have. They told me a couple of things I didn’t know, like how they have a free audio book service available.
Anyhow, hopefully you enjoy our conversation like I did and learn a couple of things along the way. PJ pies and mcallen public library information below.

#008 Talking discipleship of the Kingdom of God – Brandon Beasley
03/23/19
I met Brandon Beasley when I was sleeping in the sofas of the Ministry and was in a low point in my life. This Ministry is next to the university and is a building almost like a house, were it is open daily 9-5pm Monday to Friday for college students to go in and use. A friend of mine recommended to me and I had been using it for taking naps. So, we connected very well and had a very interesting conversation about religion and my background. So, I saw him recently and asked him if would do a podcast with me, and on Monday of March 23rd, 2019, we made a pretty funny cool podcast. We had a lot of issues, but in the end, I think it turned out even better in the end. A great guy.
Brandon Beasley is the Executive Director at the United Methodist Campus Ministry (UMSM) of the Rio Grande Valley, located next to the Edinburg campus. It is run by the United Methodist Student Movement at UTRGV and STC, which behaves as an university club but which is only affiliated and is a different identity than that of the university. Its goal is to serve the students, teaching people to be more like Jesus, and be inclusive, accepting anybody from any background and believes.
We talked about a lot of things. We talked about the brain drain in the valley, the problems that exist at the church, the PR problems of Christianity and how it is perceived. We spoke of the mission of the Ministry and how it should help making the world a better place. Just a lot of things.
The campus ministry building offers a space for students to relax in the sofa’s/couches, watch shows on Netflix, use its study rooms, its kitchen, and its freezer. Stacked with food, it is an open place for people to go and its such a nice place to be, worthwhile place that everyone should be in.
They offer free lunch on Tuesdays lunch time at 12pm.
On Friday, they have bible study at 6pm at the ministry.

UMSMRGV is non-profit organization and they also accept donations in their facebook page, if anyone is willing, that would be great. They would really like that.
