    EPISODE 01: EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

    EPISODE 01: EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Hello everyone! So this is the first episode of “Epiphanies & Anecdotes” and the topic that I have taken up today is Emotional Wellbeing.

What do you consider a normal state of emotions? If we ask this question to anyone, I guess we all will get a list of different answers because the state of “normalcy” itself is a very subjective thing. People can have a variety of approaches towards it and will probably have perfectly good explanations for whatever answer they choose to give. If someone were to ask this to me, I think I would say when you don’t feel happy or sad, excited or agitated, but just have a feeling of inner content or peace, that’s what I’d call a normal state of emotions. We are in a disturbed state whenever there is a positive or negative deviation to this normalcy. But, what I discovered, and realized recently is that, if there is a positive deviation, be it happiness or excitement or amusement or hope, we just feel them as they are. We don’t constantly fight to get back to being in a so-called, normal state again. I’ve never seen anyone trying to distract themselves because they are feeling too much joy. It is only when some sort of negative deviation happens, like sadness or anger or hurt, even guilt, that we try to force ourselves to stop feeling these feelings and once again become content. We keep on masking our emotions and push them away. But the truth is you cannot just get rid of your emotions. You need to feel them.

There is a very famous quote by John Green from his book “The Fault in our Stars” that goes- “That’s the thing about pain, it demands to be felt.” Well, I guess it stands true not only for pain but all emotions. So, my advice to you is, the next time you feel any of these negative emotions coming up, instead of trying to push them away, sit with them, accept them, label them, and give your mind and heart the time they need to get over them on their own. I have heard a lot of people say that happiness cannot be a default state of being. TRUE! But the same goes with all the other emotions as well. Give your mental as well as physical entity the space they require to breathe and get acquainted with the alleviated emotional state and the negative emotions as well will fade away on their own.

So, we have reached the end of our first episode. If you want to share your views on this topic or want to talk about something else, feel free to ping me on my instagram, the link to which has been provided in the description.
The next episode will be up coming Saturday. So, stay tuned in and please subscribe to the podcast and share with your family and friends.

Hope you all have an amazing day and week! Stay safe & well!

    Introduction

    Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Anisha and first and foremost I want to thank you for tuning in to listen to this podcast. This is basically an introduction to what this podcast is going to be about and what’s the purpose behind starting this.I guess we can call this episode zero. So, anyone who doesn’t know me, I am a college student. Now you must have seen Virtual video blogs or “vlogs” as we call them or written blogs. I think it’d be fit to call this an audio blog. I’ll just be sharing my point of views about different aspects of life. I’ll be sharing some stories or maybe some things and tricks that I’ve learnt and also the things that I’ll learn as I embark on this journey. You can expect me to talk about things like literature, art, human emotions, lifestyle and wellness, college stories and a lot more. I might even slide in some poetry or music every now and then. I would in no manner whatsoever want this to be a lecture sort of thing, but rather a two way conversation. So, if there is anything in particular that you’d like me to talk about or share my views on, feel free to ping me on my instagram handle, the link to which is given in the description. Just to make things a bit more convenient, I’ll be including the written matter to whatever I’m saying in the description as well for every episode, just like this one!

I guess that’s all for today. I hope that you all will be there to take a walk with me for the upcoming episodes. I’ll be putting up new episodes every saturday or fortnightly! So, stay tuned in and please subscribe to the podcast and share with your family and friends.

Hope you all have an amazing day and week! Stay safe & well!

And remember to be kind, always!
