My next guest is the one and only, Toni Rose!! She is a mother. A daughter. A sister. An auntie. A poet. A survivor. She has been writing poetry since she was journaling in middle school. Trigger warning: This text and episode will feature in-depth conversation and poetry involving mental health, domestic and sexual abuse. Being a survivor of these traumas, her healing has come through in many ways but primarily through art. With collaboration from fellow poet, Pat Rossi, this healing was brought to light in The Amazing Blue Rose WoMen Poetry Showcase. Poets, dancers, singers, rappers and others have come together for many years throughout New England in support of awareness and healing from these traumatic realities. It has come so far that it is in the works for being even more healing in more creative ways than before as a non-profit. We talk about how this all came about, what it exactly is and how these experiences have helped shape her calling in this life. We also hear about how she recently broke her first ever bone, her ankle, and some actual poems from her first book, "Hypervigilante". Come heal with us. 🙂
