GOD'S STORY: How Wisdom Works — 1 Kings 3:1-15

 

• A life of wisdom is established in a love relationship with God.

 

Observations on how wisdom works:


WISDOM is a gracious gift provided through a love relationship with God. (vv. 1-5)
Our life is a GIFT to be stewarded in wisdom for God’s glory. (vv. 6-8)
Our desire for WISDOM is connected to our delight in God. (v. 9)
Wisdom is a gift God is PLEASED to give. (vv. 10-15)

• All of the bible points us to our desperate need for Jesus, the greater King-Priest.

 


Jesus is the greater KING we all need (vv. 1-3)
Jesus is the greater HIGH PRIEST we all need (vv. 4-7)

A commitment to praise and worship leads to sharing the gospel.

 

__Why is God worthy of praise?

1. He stands up against the ENEMY. (v. 3)

2. He is forever the RIGHTEOUS judge. (vv. 4, 7-8)

3. He is our STRONGHOLD in times of trouble. (v. 9)

 

__How should we commit to worship God?

1. With THANKS. (v. 1)

2. With our WHOLE HEART (v. 1)

3. By RECOUNTING His deeds (v. 1)

4. With SINGING (v. 2)

5. By TELLING OTHERS (v. 11)

GOD'S STORY: Seek First — 2 Samuel 5 & 6

 

• To understand the will of God we must first seek the face of God.

 

1. Seeking First GOD’S Kingdom (vv 5:6-25)

     • Too important not to stop

     • Intentionally seeking the direction of the Lord

     • Yeilding yourself to the Word of the Lord

     • Enjoying the blessing of God on obedience



2. Seeking First MY Kingdom (vv. 6:1-11)

     • Too important to stop

     • Disregarding the Word of God

     • Doing what I want, the way I want

     • Enduring the consequences of rejecting God’s design
