    A Symptom of Pride—Josiah Kagin

    A Symptom of Pride—Josiah Kagin

An underlying and often unnoticed symptom of pride is not to seek after the LORD. It is a symptom can go months, years and even a lifetime without being resolved. A person can be saved, serving Jesus, faithfully gathering with other believers at church and yet not personally, daily seeking after the Lord. While it may not be obvious to oneself or others, it is obvious to God. Today we will see how this symptom of pride impacted the life of King Rehoboam and how we can and should choose differently.

The Bread of Life: Unending Supply—Josiah Kagin

The Bread of Life: Unending Supply—Josiah Kagin

The night before His death on the cross, Jesus broke bread and handed it to His disciples in the upper room. He was establishing a memorial that His that would help His church to always remember who He was and the price He paid for our redemption. He had already declared Himself to be the bread of life. At the cross, He would be broken for us so that we might have eternal life and an unending supply of spiritual nourishment. Tonight we revisit a scene between Christ and a crowd who really enjoyed the miraculous meals of bread and fish He provided. He would urge them to change their thinking and labor for spiritual food that leads to everlasting life.

    Responding to Pride—Josiah Kagin

    Responding to Pride—Josiah Kagin

We live in a culture and society that celebrates what God condemns. Perhaps this is not more vividly illustrated than the month of June in our country that is designated as Pride Month. Like Lot, our souls are vexed as we see the displays in Walmart, the headings in your Google calendar, the commercials on TV, the rainbow painted streets, the elected officials making obligatory statements, the diversity equality and inclusion training memos at work and the twisting of the meaning of the God’s rainbow. How should we approach this month and those celebrating pride as followers of Christ?

    Ordinary People — Josiah Kagin

    Ordinary People — Josiah Kagin

Jesus did not call the wise, wealthy, educated or the popular to be ones who would carry on His mission after He ascended to heaven. He called ordinary people like fishermen, tax collectors, persecutors and doctors. Too often, we think that the Great Commission will only be accomplished by those with obvious callings, capabilities and resources. However, this is not the case in the advance of the Gospel through the early New Testament church. God chose ordinary people to carry His extraordinary work in the world. Let’s consider the ordinary lives of Aquila and Priscilla and the incredible help they were to the advance of the Gospel.
