Having and Using Your Voice featuring Ahmanise Sanati, LCSW

Our inaugural episode features an interview with Ahmanise Sanati, LCSW, who is running as a democratic delegate in AD 62, West Los Angeles.  Ahmanise speaks fervently about the importance of social workers' voices, knowledge and expertise influencing politics.

Ahmanise believes in the power of running to enhance her already passionate activism for social justice and advocacy for the underserved.  We explore why social workers may not feel compelled to get involved politically-"we are burnt out!"

Ahmanise also speaks about her own mentor and the NASW-CA Region H mentorship program that propelled her journey into running to become a delegate.

We talk about the importance of representation by our political figures, based on Ahmanise's own identities as a mother and community organizer, and how she integrates these two roles by involving her children in community service and rallies.
