A collection of binaurally recorded daily encounters with our sonic landscape, an exploration of how we listen, combining field recordings, voice, chance encounters, sometimes woven into compositions, sometimes generating new meanings, sometimes asking questions. Through this performative and exploratory process, I am interested in what sound can reveal, from nature, our imprint, our place within it.

Use headphones in a quiet space for the best listening experience.

    Silver Plains

    Silver Plains

Using binaural field recordings, this piece draws out tones, improvised vocalisations, rhythms, unconscious actions, captured while walking in a familiar place. The repetitiveness of daily routine, the slowing down and examination of life in detail, stretched out in dreamlike moments in time. Through the manipulation of sounds recorded, the journey is reimagined to convey emotions I felt on certain days - anxious, uncertain, introspective, meditative.

    The Brick Sea

    The Brick Sea

The Brick Sea experiments with the idea of the field recorder as performer and improviser. The composition uses a manipulated binaural field recording - playing along and improvising with the waves and the sea using synths, drum machine played through a transducer speaker inside a van - Liverpool August 2020. Listen in a quiet space using stereo headphones for the best listening experience.

Into The Cave uses manipulated binaural field recordings, composed by recording different spaces and locations from Liverpool May 2020 and Rydal Cave in July 2020. Using improvised vocals in response to location, reverberation and the sounds naturally occurring in the space.
