Let's talk about it - Aunty Di, we stand with you

Last Week, comments by Frank Hester, a long term Millionaire Tory Donor surfaced in which he called for Diane Abbot MP to be shot and stated that seeing her on television, made him want to hate all Black Women. We, along with many others, were infuriated by his comments but also deeply hurt that Frank Hester’s views are all too common and that this episode is not a new experience or a “one off” occurrence for us as Black Women.

In this episode, Chan and Nats sit down to talk about how these comments about Diane Abbott MP, the first black woman to be elected as a member of parliament in 1986, have impacted us and how we move forward when we are dealing with Frank Hesters in our working environment. We stand by Diane Abbott MP and all other Black Women that face racism in the workplace and in their daily lives and provide support for each other when figuring out how to continuing working and showing up as our authentic selves in light of such regular occurrences.

Lets Talk About It - Don't DIE for DEI

Lets Talk About It - Don't DIE for DEI

When it comes to diversity and inclusion roles, are we really seeing progress? Or is this just another corporate pageant? This episode of Black Women Working Podcast brings these hard-hitting questions to the fore, spurred by the startling news that four major companies have ousted their black, female chief diversity officers. We examine the effectiveness of these roles in fostering sincere change, and address the concerning high attrition rate amongst diversity professionals. Engaging with the turbulent journey of black professionals in workplaces, we discuss the pressing need for accountability over racist behavior, and the urgent call for a redefinition of professionalism and standards to comprehensively embrace diversity and inclusion.
