Henrico CTE Now. Season 2, Episode 12: Guests: Dana Markland, CEO of Home Building Association of Richmond

The Home Building Association of Richmond (HBAR) is a non-profit group, founded in 1946 as a trade organization to help the various companies in Richmond that are involved in building homes. We had a great conversation with Dana Markland, CEO of HBAR about the importance of young people entering into the trades in an industry that has had a decades-long deficit of young people entering the trades fields. The trades are important careers that are fulfilling, create successful individuals, are essential to Richmond, Virginia, and the country.

Henrico CTE Now. Season 2, Episode 11: Guests: Sheldon and Shari Glassner with the ACE Center Graphic Communications Program

This was a great interview with Sheldon and Shari Glassner. Sheldon is the instructor at the ACE Center at Hermitage Graphic Communications program. Shari is an instructional assistant at Hermitage High School. Sheldon has over the years built one of the top graphic communications programs in the state of Virginia, high school, or college.

The Glassner's discuss the work they and the students do for many departments in with Henrico County Schools, Henrico government, and other school systems. Sheldon's program is a great example of the hands-on education students receive with all ACE Center programs. So many essential careers can come from Sheldon's Graphic Communications program and that what makes it important. Parents and students should look closely and consider his program when considering the different ACE Center programs. CTE and ACE Center students are training to be the essential careers this country needs today and tomorrow!
