Singapore shares climbed this morning, mirroring overnight gains in the US and in Europe.

In early trade, the Straits Times Index (STI) inched up 0.4 per cent to 3,279.54 points after 31.1 million securities changed hands in the broader market. In terms of companies to watch today, we have OCBC, after the lender reported today that its net profit for the first quarter ended Mar 31, 2024, rose 5 per cent on the year to S$1.98 billion. 

Meanwhile, from OCBC's offer to take its insurance arm Great Eastern private, to Singapore Post’s net profit for the second half ending March rising 93.4 per cent on the year, more corporate headlines remain in focus.
