What to talk about the month of April... Expressing my indignation with revolt, seeing that there are still people who believe they are above the law, simply because they occupy political positions or are part of the business elite in Brazil? I think this is the least I can do in this newsletter... which aims to focus on a human aspect of our day-to-day life, and which always ends up raising our questions about issues involving lack of ethics, corruption, money laundering and impunity.
This was one of the subjects that most caught my attention during this period. Not to mention, it is clear with the absurdities that we continue to follow in the PANDEMIA theme – especially in the orchestrated CPI of COVIDE and the lack of awareness of many who continue promoting clandestine agglomerations, ignoring the advice of health professionals.
However, nothing compares to the greater absurdity that was the case of little Henry Borel, only 04 years old, who had been tortured and ended up losing his life.
Henry was the victim of cowardice and aggression by his mother's boyfriend, the cruel and unscrupulous Rio councilor Jairo Souza Santos Junior, better known as Dr. Jairinho, from the Solidarity party.
According to the expert Leonardo Huber Tauil of the Legal Medical Institute (IML), the boy died from internal bleeding and liver laceration by blunt action, characteristic of punches and kicks.
Sure that he could hold the situation with the known “jeitinho brasileiro” Dr. Jairinho, who already had a history of violence, is suspected of having assaulted the daughter of an ex-girlfriend between 2011 and 2012, made a call to a senior healthcare executive to try to prevent the body of the stepson was referred to the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
April was the month to combat and prevent abuse against children and adolescents, celebrating the international day for the fight to eradicate this form of violence that affects boys and girls all over the world.
It is import to remember that according to the World Health Organization (WHO), all forms of physical or psychological injury, sexual abuse, neglect or negligent treatment, commercial exploitation or other type of exploitation, preparation in potential harm to the child's health, its relevance, development or dignity in a context of responsibility, trust or power”.
For those who survive the violence, mistreatment leaves great consequences for lifelong development. Depression, aggressiveness, drug abuse and health problems stand out, even years after they ceased as violence.
In 2020, more than 64,000 reports of violence, physical and psychological, against children and adolescents in the country were made through the Dial 100 of the National Human Rights Ombudsman.
In other words, 7 complaints are received every hour. The numbers were released in March by the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights.
Even when politicized criminals will be sure they are above the law. Even when children and teenagers are victims of neglect and abuse by adults who have a duty to provide them with protection and safety.
Parents, Mothers, society, and governments do something to save today, tomorrow and the future not only for children, but for all of us.
After all, tomorrow leaves those children who have the right to live and dream for a better and more human world.
