5# (DK) Getting a job in Denmark - Being a Man in the Workplace - Can We Define Being Danish‪?‬ My Danish Experience (by Danish Matters)

    • Language Learning

Dear listeners!

Welcome to the Danish Matters Podcast 'My Danish Experience - for, with, and about Bonus Danes in Denmark' and to 5# Getting a Job in Denmark - Being a Man in the Workplace - Can We Define Being Danish?

Jesse from the Netherlands is my guest and we talk about a lot of different things.

Jesse has learned Danish but not in a conventional way. One thing he did was learn from a stay at a folk high school. There are many of those in Denmark, one is Toftelund for music and theatre in the southern part of Jutland (Sønderjylland): https://musikogteater.dk/?gclid=Cj0KCQjw5JSLBhCxARIsAHgO2SfDlDuUaxFKfGctl_nrX7RxIuJsafRP7vfe4J1MfRCY7E1Z0FOVCqkaAvAwEALw_wcB

Jesse mentions a Youtube channel called 'Dansk udtale'. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCELY640l4PvwswWPTfMQ5YA

My guest and I also talk about working in Denmark and going to job interviews as well as being a man in the workplace and men working with children.

We also touch upon the challenging question: what defines a Dane?

Jesse also mentions taking an initiative when socializing in Denmark.

If you would like to participate in My Danish Experience Podcast - WE CAN SPEAK ENGLISH TOGETHER (I'm actually looking for English speaking participants!) - please write to tina@danishmatters.dk - this is also the email that you can use if you’re interested in a Danish course with me/Danish Matters.

Your story doesn't have to be out of the ordinary - no need to have acquaintances at the royal court, hold a high position (in fact, you can be unemployed), or be an ideal Danish learner. You don't have to like ‘leverpostej’ either 😉

Here’s a short video with a little info about the podcast:
