Poop Balloons Are Funny, Genocide Is Awful | June 5th, 2024

Poop Balloons Are Funny, Genocide Is Awful | June 5th, 2024

Luke is back in the saddle with the crew as he's prepping to head to Chicago this weekend. Steve can't stop laughing about the duper balloons that came from North Korea & then gently drifted into South Korean territory. We got your emails! This week we only have one & it's from a Finn Gurrer disciple! When's the last time you thought of Yahoo? Are they dead yet? The fellas ponder which time is the ideal time to drink Pabst Blue Ribbon. Black Rock & Citadel Securities are planning to start their own stock exchange in Texas. It's all about the state you're standing in apparently. The neoliberals, who go by their pen name Democrats, have a new voice working full time now on their behalf: Robert DeNiro. Govier found a new clip from a song with a dumb sounding voice along the lines of Collective Soul & Color Me Badd. Welcome to hell! Election 2024 is ratcheting up which is why Joe Biden tried to get tough on immigration on the Mexican border. Luke has a numerical solution for what Biden can do to get in the good graces of rational human voters. Remember Macklemore!? He's got a new song on the scene called Hind's Hall that was actually brought up by Luke with the message focusing on the Israeli genocide in Palestine. That leads to Govier's memory of Macklemore hanging out with former President Obama for an opioids thingy. Awkward! Steve has an under the radar reminder that is over 200 years old from George Washington who even back in the 1790's had concerns about partisanship in the USA. Did you know Dr. Phil has a new network he's launching called Merit Street Media. The good doctor is here to find the middle ground in mainstream media. Steve does a hilarious impression of that Texas doofus. Have a chuckle when you watch the video of someone throwing a milkshake at Brexit douche Nigel Farage. Everybody is crushed that Bill Walton recently shook off his mortal coil. Steve & Mike are big fans & Steve offers up a tribute with some of Walton's all-time doozies as an NBA broadcaster. We'll miss you Bill! Of course when Walton comes up, so does the Grateful Dead who Walton followed religiously as a concert-goer. Luke wasn't sure if he knew a single song by them which means Luke's mind was ready for some enlightenment on the matter. Steve loves the show Hacks & he wants to know why Govier is watching the prison drama Oz from the early 2000's instead. Luke wants everyone to know that the Netflix show Eric starring Benedict Cumberbatch sucks because he's not from a divorced family. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with Cowboys Are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other by Orville Peck & Willie Nelson. If any of our nonsense provokes your thoughts, please share them with us at isitsafepod@gmail.com or check out our Discord:

You Would Expect There To Be Fewer Micro Plastics In The Testes | May 23rd, 2024

No Luke for this one because Mike ran late at work. You get Steve & Govier this time around. Where was cocaine use at in the 1950s? We got your emails! Joe checks in with some possible show title replacement options including a classic crack about Luke's movie passion. Steve has a reminder about the incredible resourcefulness of your local public library. The Trip starring Steve Coogan & Rob Brydon never gets old for the fellas when it comes to Anthony Hopkins & Michael Caine impressions. Mike's first job ever was at a bowling alley & golf range fun place where he had ot be at work picking up golf balls at 6AM. Finn Gurrer emails in to ask which one you got: one bourbon, one scotch or one beer? George Thorogood style. The word is out that there are plenty of micro plastics floating around in the testes of male humans & dogs as well. Welcome to hell. Ticketmaster & Live Nation are finally having their monopoly challenged by the federal government. Eddie Vedder is celebrating today! The guy from Band of Horses is from James Island in the Charleston South Carolina area. Steve has a classic tale about drinking with that dude one night long ago with friend of the show David. Mike is then reminded of when some bars in the Charleston area were open until 5AM which is a terrible idea. Braid & Minus The Bear show tales ensue as well. Steve & Mike recall the summer adventure of witnessing major league baseball underachiever Yoan Moncada live at the Charleston Riverdogs minor league ballpark back in 2015. Steve's frustrated about the foul call disparity in every NBA playoff series the Indiana Pacers are involved in this playoff season. Lastly, Steve shares the name of a fella who is paying attention to how lame Bill Simmons has become now that he's a lazy millionaire. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with May 16 by Lagwagon. The Captain Midnight Intrusion | May 16th, 2024

The Captain Midnight Intrusion | May 16th, 2024

Steve is feeling better after his recent illness left him bedridden. Guess how many buzz topics we cram into the first minute of the show? Harrison Butker's anti-feminist message which follows Catholic dogma reminds us that Butker isn't the first idiot kicker in the NFL. Have you seen the Italian gas nozzle ass blaster? It's a real hoot! Patrick Mahomes is trying to hide his Kermit The Frog voice in public. Jerry Seinfeld's newest film Unfrosted isn't high on the watch list for Steve or Luke. Luke is pissed about Jerry Seinfeld's outdated ways. Govier was losing interest in Michigan football back in his 20's, but he didn't see it all the way through. Follow your own voice! What's more depressing? Catholic priest abuse or the Holocaust? We're sorry for forcing you into making choice in this nightmare scenario. Govier recalls the crappy Ford Escort he wanted to buy after his high school graduation, but his friend Brandon ended up buying it with his graduation money. Steve remembers cramming five people into that thing. Did your parents drive an Escort once a upon a time? We got emails! Finn Gurrer must find out how the fellas feel about constipation. Then the back up of backed up tales begins. Govier's second stepdad had crappy issues plus he looked like Gordy from ABC Warehouse. The infamous Jason Rehnlund from high school will always be associated with the NES Tetris music from a song created many moons ago about the man himself & his annoying ways. Steve found a doppelganger for our friend Chad named Professor Green. Bill Burr gave Bill Maher a hard time on Maher's podcast recently and Luke loves it. Remember Gus Macker basketball tourneys? Govier shares memories from all the cars he had as a high schooler. Luke wants everybody to know how funny Sam Morrill is. It's a new episode so of course there is more Israeli/Palestinian rhetoric for you all with still no peace in sight. Shopper's Drug Mart in Toronto wants volunteers to work for free. This is for real. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with Everything's Ruined by Faith No More. Pontiac Or Detroit: Who Had It Worse? | April 25th, 2024

Pontiac Or Detroit: Who Had It Worse? | April 25th, 2024

The NFL Draft is in Detroit! Is that fun? Govier is learning about the Oakland County Child Killer which seems to be an unsolved mystery that doesn't get as much attention as it should considering true crime is all the rage. Govier got the yeahs updated from previous episodes. Get ready for plenty of Collective Soul yeahs. The United States government is making TikTok an enemy of the state when it isn't & the feds can spy on anybody in the country at any time making the 4th amendment a moot point. Did you know that Julia Fox was Josh Safdie's muse for the movie Uncut Gems? We got your emails! Travis is pissed that Govier unfairly labeled him a Wild Hogs fan. Which movie would you be pissed about being incorrectly labeled as enjoying? Finn Gurrer is learning a lot about Third Eye Blind's Semi-Charmed Life while also putting a decision to the show related to numerical musical artists. Remember Bowling For Soup? Steve wants to talk about opioids, but we're tabling it for another day when Govier is fully prepped. Steve proves that American universities are not bastions of knowledge leading the way toward a more developed future. Govier has Mr. Show fever which means there are multiple Mr. Show skits coming your way on this episode. Did you know about the connection between Mr. Show & Blink-182? East Palestine's train derailment settlement has been set at $600 million. As the show closes Govier has a sad story about a former co-worker who deserves to be remembered forever. Then Luke shares a recent event about a good friend in California who isn't here anymore. Powerful stuff. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with Rookie by Boy Sets Fire. Target Is Somehow More Prepared Than The Capital Police On January 6th | April 18th, 2024

Target Is Somehow More Prepared Than The Capital Police On January 6th | April 18th, 2024

We got ourselves a guest host this week! Luke is out of town which opens the door for our Cinema 9 pal Eric Branstrom to guest host with Govier 7 Steve. Sean Connery said some real bogus stuff about women 30 years ago to Barbara Walters. This is not a deep fake! Eric received an apology from a former high school bully as walked outside of a gym. Eric boned up on Israeli politics just for his appearance. We have 5 emails! How about them apples? Dave sent in a treatise on Boeing & the outdated efforts of their aerodynamic engineering efforts. Dave also has heard Collective Soul's Shine more than once since the song first appeared on the show a couple weeks ago. How many of you still have your gigantic CD album case with all of your CDs in it? Govier has a new addition to the Brett Butler/Shelby Foote/Steve Collins southern drawl acapella group. Govier wants to know if Eric & other parents recognize the futility of having kids when the United States is in decline in the 21st century. Aaron Rodgers says AIDS was perpetrated by the U.S. government, but Govier is more concerned about busting up a misnomer about the so-called patient zero of AIDS. That is simply not true. Joe's email is written in astonishment about Govier's mom's ex-boyfriend from the 1980s. Finn Gurrer writes his shortest email ever offering up a tag-team showdown including four different one hit wonders from the late 1990s & early 2000s. Another email from Joe has to do with classic rock hits that are the most popular state by state. How do you define the parameters of what makes the cut for classic rock? Metallica, The Ramones & Blondie: rank them in order. Govier recalls breaking into his stepdad's bedroom back in high school. Lots of goodies in there. Steve has a John Eastman update for everybody. Medicaid enrollment is shrinking across the country & Govier is one of the eligible people who is getting screwed. Plus Govier was trapped in a Target lockdown this week for an hour against his will. Some teacher from high school had a very loose policy when it came to keeping her vagina under wraps while reading Beowulf to the class.Eric is not a fan of the latest Arby's marketing campaign. The old days of Go West back in the 1990s is where it's at. When is the last time you had a Jamocha shake? Does Arby's suck? Will Smith & Martin Lawrence were pushing Bad Boys 4 at Coachella which is largely populated by well to-do social media influencers who are busy recording instead of experiencing life in real-time. Eric is baffled by castles while Steve wonders if there is a real castle with an actual moon door from Game Of Thrones. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with A Small Potato's Mind by Husking Bee. Give My Regards To King Tut Asshole | April 4th, 2024

Give My Regards To King Tut Asshole | April 4th, 2024

MIke's audio starts out trash for 3 minutes, then all systems are normal. Have no fear! Cinema 9 did a movie called The Island last week. Everybody was pissed. Louis Gossett Jr. bit the big one recently, but apparently there will be no Iron Eagle series marathon going down. Govier's mom's boyfriend from 1988 had an ancient sundial in his yard plus he wanted to be a swashbuckling pirate like Errol Flynn. You guys go Joe Lowry or Joe Yori? Which movies do you own outright in your Amazon video library? Govier has 12 or so in his library as the guys review Mike's library. Did Govier overdraft his bank account to purchase the 1993 rollerblading classic Airborne. Tom Green is in town just in time for opening day in Detroit while Tim Robinson is also doing a live show the same day. Get ready for some John Tesh Roundball Rock! Carrot Top is apparently tailor made for Eyes Wide Shut parties. Govier provides a quick appraisal of the hotels of downtown Detroit. One story didn't go too well for him. What's the better show: Detroiters or I Think You Should Leave? We got your emails! Travis from Cinema 9 & 93-94 A Music Pod kicks it off. Travis was there in the 90's, but he wants to know what type of animal all the guys would like to be if they could. Plus it's time for another round of name that random guy from Hartland High School in 1997 who had a pointless nickname like Horse. Get ready for Uncle Luke & some Doo Doo Brown coming your way! YouTube etiquette when it comes to liking or subbing videos is a thing. Luke has a problem with Sand Cranes. The adventures of Finn Gurrer continue! Where will Finn take us this week? That's what you're about to find out. Kirk Cousins or Finn's cousins? Steve has your upcoming 2024 solar eclipse report for those of you in the United States who want to catch a glimpse of this unique event. Steve is our astronomer of record. If he doesn't know, ask Google. Mike reminisces about the 1994 eclipse that his science class went outside to see in May of 1994. Steve also has thoughts on the new True Detective, including the music choices. Of course we couldn't end the show without sneaking in more Israeli/Palestinian murderous chaos. 7 members from chef Jose Andres charity called World Central Kitchen were targeted with drone strikes by the IDF & Jose Andres is furious about it. We love you all! This talk show is not the same without you listening and emailing us your highly entertaining thoughts. We close the show with I'll Bear by Car Colors.
