But we can also pick up the suffering from previous generations, even when we don’t experience the same circumstances. It can be difficult to rise above or transmute that pain, and because it’s carried by our loved ones, we can feel guilty even trying to.

    But first, credit where credit is due: This hypnosis is based on a technique I learned from a teacher of Jessica's, Donna Macallum, on a course she runs called the 7 Levels of Abundance, and she learned it from Tanya Mayburgh, who is a family constellations master trainer. It was also a response to a request Jessica received on instagram from Madeline, from Juneau Alaska. Hope this helps you Madeline, and all of you Sleep Wavers. You don’t have to have experienced any family problems, or trauma, in order to benefit from this exercise. When Jessica first did it, it gave her a really profound feeling of peace and appreciation for my ancestors, and forged a beautiful connection to them all.

    Tonight’s meditation will release you from the negative effects of regret. Instead of dwelling on your regret, accept it. When you acknowledge that regret is a natural part of life, you are freed from becoming trapped by those very natural and even useful thoughts. Regrets are insights as well. You can look back on your past actions and having lived through the whole set of consequences, you can discern certain principles. Then, going forward, let those principles guide your steps. The regret emotion that you feel is like a message from your past that says, “There is another way to go. You don’t have to keep taking the same path.” So, let's meditate together, and begin to work on our relationship with regret, stilling our minds, and finding peace with our past as we drift off to sleep.
