    Jennifer Flitton Adams

Hello friends! I am so pleased to share with you today my conversation with Jennifer Flitton Adams. As the associate professor of costume design, she is celebrating her 25th year anniversary of teaching at Shenandoah University!

In this episode we talk about SO much: graduate school, costume pedagogy, diversity, inclusivity and body positivity. I really admire her ability to speak up and have difficult conversations as well as her commitment to amplifying the many diverse voices that make up our community of artists.

And, she recently wrote a book! Be sure to check out: Teaching Costume Design and Costume Rendering: A Guide for Theatre and Performance Educators.

Here's the link for her book:

    Felicia Martis

    Felicia Martis

We have an international performer with us today on the podcast! Felicia Martis is here to share with us about what it’s like to travel around the world singing and dancing on multiple cruise ship contracts!

In this episode we talk about the importance of leading with kindness. Felicia says: “Be kind and forgiving to yourself. It doesn’t serve you to criticize yourself. Appreciate where you are and how much work you’ve done. Acknowledge the growth that you want and where you want your career to go.”

    Andy Brown

    Andy Brown

Welcome back friends! Little known fact: we have been meaning to record this episode for the past three years and I am so honored to share it with you today.

Our first guest of 2024 is none other than the wonderfully talented and charming Andy Brown. Having performed all over the country, he best describes himself as a traveling vagabond actor. In this episode we talk a lot about taking breaks and coming back to theatre. Especially, the theatre homes that we have created all around the country.

One of my favorite things that Andy shares is this: “How do we get theatre into the fabric of society? It shouldn’t be a luxury. It’s a necessity.”

Thank you so much for listening and continuing to support the podcast!

    2024

    2024

Happy New Year friends! We are starting off the new year by taking a couple of deep breaths. Here’s an episode all about goals and ideas for 2024. Personally, I would love to spend this year being more present and enjoying the journey, rather than just going through the motions to get to the next thing. Rather than focusing so much energy on very specific achievements, I’d like to focus on how I would like to feel in the new year. For me, it comes down to three words: happy, peaceful and calm. Thank you so much for listening and continuing to support us!

    Hello Again!

    Hello Again!

Hello Friends…Again! Here’s a little solo episode for you tonight, which was recorded in a bathroom after I took a bubble bath and had a glass of wine. Sensible. This is an episode that is filled with a lot of questions: How do you get through this messy life while being an artist? Where is the time and where is the money? How can you take more breaks so that you don’t have so many breakdowns? How do you make it all work?

There’s No People Like Show People hasn’t fallen off the face of the earth. We’re still here. Just at a slower and healthier pace while taking more breaks. Thank you so much for listening and continuing to support us. Look for more interviews coming in 2024!
