2 Samuel 13 and 1 Kings 1

David was a dad. The Scriptures name 19 sons, 1 daughter, and 1 child who died in infancy. These 21 children came from his eight named wives, not to mention his unnamed wives and concubines. Most of David’s relationships with his children are awful, but at the end of his life he does the right thing. David wasn’t perfect, he definitely wasn’t a perfect Father. But Jesus is the perfect Son, who reconciles us to the perfect Father.

David was faithful in the small things, which prepared him to be faithful in the big things. David was even faithful when he was persecuted and pursued unto death. Because it was in the fields and battle fields that prepared for the throne. This week we will see what it means to be faithful to God, particularly when it would have been tempting to take the easy way out.
