As Pastor Tim Keller said, King Nebuchadnezzar tries to be more than a man, so he becomes less than a man. He tries to be like God, so he becomes like and animal. But when Nebuchadnezzar looks up to heaven and repents, he is restored. In this children’s sermon, we focus on how the posture of our bodies affects the posture of our hearts. Kneeling in church can train our hearts to be humble if we let it!

This week in Daniel 3, we wrestled with what it mean to be faithful by analyzing the interaction between Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego with King Nebuchadnezzar, and how they chose death rather than bow before the King’s idol. Their faithfulness in the time of testing is a challenge to us: to be faithful in the everyday things to Jesus so that we can stand firm with him through anything.

Daniel is fluent in the language and culture of Babylon and the Scriptures and ways of God. This makes Daniel a faithful and accurate interpreter. Just as Daniel has allowed the God of the Bible to interpret his own life, Daniel can then faithfully speak truth to the King Nebuchadnezzar and declare to him that despite human limitations, there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.
