Ron welcomes back Paul Eisenstein of The Detroit Bureau to do a deep dive into the Takata air bag recall. A recall so large at the time 10 years later we are still hearing about it in the present day too! Afterwards, The Car Doctor's first call comes from Carol in Long Island, NY with questions about tire valve stem replacement on her 2010 Mazda. She has several questions on how to proceed and is a little confused but Ron helps her understand the basics providing step by step guidance on getting it repaired properly. The Car Dr closes it out today covering a letter from Tony in Illinois with an article attached from The Chicago Tribune. The article relates a story of failed auto repair prompting the writer to discuss how mechanics of today are not being taught to use their God given sense of smell. sight, touch and feel to repair cars but they are (incorrectly according to the article) always counting on the cars computer to self diagnose. In other words; no codes? No problem or help possible! Wrong Ron points out and shows us, well, tells us how it works in his shop. Tune in to hear!

Ron starts this episode talking about the process of running a vehicles monitors or self tests for verifying if the vehicle is ready for state inspection. He goes into the how and why of car computer self evaluation of proper operation. The Car Doctor then responds to a listeners question about a 2018 Acura he discussed in a previous hour explaining a little further how the owner could have avoided having to purchase a new car had they taken better care of this one.  A caller from Virginia, Sal, calls in to discuss his 1972 F100 telling the tale of how he is struggling removing one of the rear axle shafts. Of course Ron helps set him on the path to completion. Ron then talks about a recent news story out of California; a recent bill was passed that will require California vehicles to self monitor and warn the operator when the vehicle is exceeding the speed limit by 10mph or more. Brian from Philadelphia is Ron's next caller with questions about his 2017 Ford Fusion. He has comments and questions about changing spark plugs and transmission fluid. The Car Doctor closes out the hour by answering a letter from a young listener about what it takes to be an auto mechanic and another with questions about updating software in car computers. Its another day at the "office" for Ron Ananian, The Car Doctor.

Ron starts today asking the question "Do you set yourself up to fail with your mechanic?" He recounts a 2018 Acura from the shop this week that had poor maintenance and a worse mechanic taking care of it. From improper brake repair to almost no maintenance in its 85K miles its no wonder the vehicle is in need of expensive repairs.  He then takes a call from Joe in NJ with a 2019 Escape with no start problems but to compound the issue the key fob batteries were replaced just before the problem started. But maybe they have nothing to do with the problem? Or do they? Ron helps break it down. We then get to hear from Ron's Uncle Steve, the WW2 fighter pilot with his thoughts on Memorial Day and what it is really about. We play an interview from 2011;  Uncle Steve does not disappoint and delivers his interview with expected precision. Larry from Florida is next with a problem on his 2004 Chevy Tahoe with a knock sensor problem. Ron closes out the hour with a personal sentiment and story from a boat trip as a child with Uncle Steve.

Classic Car Dr, October 25, 2014 , First Hour, 1st Half - Ron starts this "spooktacular" show from Halloween asking questions about Humpty Dumpty and draws comparisons between auto repair and fairy tales.

Classic Car Dr; Ron starts this "spooktacular" show from Halloween asking questions about Humpty Dumpty and draws comparisons between auto repair and fairy tales.  He relates a story from the shop of a 2008 Toyota Sienna, a drop in with no appointment, that despite best efforts, keeps coming back with new problems. The Sienna seems haunted as it falls apart in front of Ron & the crews eyes this week. He closes the segment asking the question "Is fixing cars like a fairy tale" sometimes? You decide. After the break he takes calls; a listener want to know why his 4 tire pressure gauges all read different and which one is the right one? Of course, Ron breaks it down for us all to understand and make a decision. Ron also admits he has to throw a tire pressure gauge away on a regular basis as they don't keep their calibration. The Car Dr closes the segment helping a caller (and all of us) with tire purchase decisions. How to pick a good tire and why certain tires are better to stay away from. Avoid the pitfalls and listen in!
