Day 118: King Saul Despairs (2024)
Fr. Mike reflects on King Saul's despair in the face of trial, and how he seeks other means of comfort when he feels like God has abandoned him. God never abandons us, especially in the midst of danger. Fr. Mike invites us to place our trust in God's promise, instead of resorting to sinful acts. Brilliant and bite-sized
Ascension has made reading the Bible so accessible especially to those like me who have found it intimidating. I haven’t gotten past Genesis in the Old Testament on my own until this podcast.
The transition from reading alone to being part of a community where we can encounter God’s word on our own momentum is beautiful. Fr Mike’s reflections offers clarity and context where there has been misunderstanding. This has made the journey an achievement and undeniably worthwhile. Thank you.
A “doable” plan to read the Bible!
Often, we begin programmes at the beginning of a year but never complete them!
Today, I feel a great sense of accomplishment that I was able to complete the Bible in a Year plan! I have attempted on many occasions to read the Bible, but it is the first time that I have read it from cover to cover.

I’ve been re-reading the Bible, disappointed that it’s late October and I haven’t read as much as I’ve wanted at the start of the year. I saw this podcast listening and watching Ascension Presents YouTube channel, and I started to cry. This is everything that I needed and more. The Bible bing read and explained, so beautifully, in short enough increments so that I have the confidence continue this long term. I am so overwhelmingly happy to find this, right now, at this stage. Bless your hearts! This is a gift.
