Nobuo: Not much, and you?

P: Couldn’t be better!

N: Wow, have you got a girl friend or what?

P: Not yet, but I’ve joined student union of IU, and I could make many friends!!

N: Really? I thought that’s a group of geeks. Are you really into it?

P: Hahaha..I thought so too, but, truth is, I feel pretty good about it.

N: What kind of activity are you enjoying there?

P: Activity? That’s not my point. The point is, the share of female members in the union is more than 70%, and French guy like me is very popular!

N: Good for you, that’s it?

P: As a matter of fact, that’s all what I want to say.

N: That was sweet of you to share the great story, thank you!

P: You're welcome. Au revoir.

 

続いて、ノブオさんの台本。
(Nobuo) Hi, I would like to buy a season ticket from today for one month.
(Station staff) Season ticket? Do you mean a commutation ticket?
(Nobuo) Oh, yes it is. Can I buy it here?
(Station staff) You can buy one week commutation ticket at the longest,
and you need to make a ID-card beforehand.
This card is called "Photocard". and you've gotta attach your ID photo right here.



Everytime you buy a commutation ticket, you show the "Photocard".


Could you get what I said?
(Nobuo) So,first, should I bring a picture of my face?
(Station staff) Exactly, you ought to do it.
(Nobuo) OK, I will take a photograph and come back later.
(Station staff) You can go that way and find a photo-shop on the corner.
(Nobuo) Thanks, then, see you later.

(Station staff) See you soon.

先週に引き続き、Readingについて質問します。
今週は後半の質問7～質問12までを紹介します。
今回も、それぞれの質問に「はい」「いいえ」だけでなく、
「常に」「時々」「全くない」等と回答して、
ご自分のReadingについて振り返ってみて下さい。


質問7. 読むのが遅すぎる気がする。

アドバイス7：もしこの問題の原因が集中力だとしたら、アドバイス1, 2を見て下さい。


集中力の問題で無いとすると、なぜ読むのが遅いのか確認する必要があります。
・おそらく文書全てを同じスピードで読んでいると思います。
理解する為にゆっくり丁寧に読む必要のある文書もあります。
しかし重要でない・簡単な文書を読む時はいつでも、できる限りの速さで全体をザッと読むと言う訓練をすると読むスピードが上がります。
・読んでいる通りに口で発音していませんか？これは学校で「音読」をさせられて来た結果です。しかし私たちは話し言葉よりも早く読まなくてはなりません。
もし発音しているかも知れないと思ったら、読んでいる時に指を唇に当ててみて下さい。
これによって発音をしてしまうのを防ぐ事ができます。
・分からない単語が多くて読むのが遅いですか？もしそうだとしたらボキャブラリーを増やして下さい。辞書を使って調べて、それを単語カードに転記して下さい。もし次の時

P: Thanks, then, do you have time?

 

N: I think so.

 

P: Well, let’s grab a bite at the food court.

 

N: Sounds good, but I feel like having lunch at Dragon Express today. How about it?

 

P: No problem. Let’s go. I’m starving.

 

At the Dragon Express.

 

N: Can I have a menu?  Thanks!

 

P: Um…I know nothing about Chinese food. Do you have any recommendations for me?

 

N: Mongolian pork or Shrimp Lo Mein in soup is very good.

 

P: Okay, I’m gonna go with Shrimp Lo Mein is soup.

 

N: I’ll have Mongolian pork and Jasmin tea.

 

P: Thé au Jasmin would be nice!

今回もノブオ先生のノートを拝借してきました(^^

プレゼンテーションの最後には大抵Q&Aを行います。

実は質問と言うのは4つに分けられます。
これらの質問に対して、実際に回答する前に一つコメントを加えると良いでしょう。
その事によって回答を考える時間が若干できるからです。
そしてQ&Aコーナーで自信を持って答える事が出来、Q&Aコーナーを自分でコントロールする事が出来ます。

1. Good questions（良い質問）
聞いてくれた事に対して質問者に感謝を述べましょう。
伝えたかった事をさらに他の聞き手にも、より伝える事を手助けしてくれるからです。

（コメント例）
- Good point.
- Interesting. What do you think?
- I'm glad you asked that.
- That's a very good question.

2. Difficult questions（難しい質問）
これらは答える事の出来ない、もしくは答えたくない質問になります。
分からない（I don't know) と答え、質問者はどう思うのか逆に聞いてみるのも良いでしょう。

（コメント例）
- Sorry, I don't follow you.
- I don't know that off the top of my head.
- Can I get back to you on that?
- I'm afraid I'm not in a position to comment on that.（これはIrrelevant questionに対する答えとも言えます）
- I wish I knew.
- I 'm afraid I don't have that information with me.

3. Unnecessary questions（不要な質問）
質問については既に情報を与えています。
そこを簡単に再度説明し、次の質問に移って下さい。

（コメント例）
- I think I answered earlier.
- Well, as I said...
- Well, as I mentioned earlier, ...

4. Irrelevant questions（無関係な質問）
無礼にならないように気を付けて応答し、次の質問に移りましょう。

（コメント例）
- I'm afraid I don't see the connection.
- I'm afraid I'm not in a position to comment on that.（これはDifficult questionに対する答えとも言えます）
- To be honest, I think that raises a difficult issue.

名詞をもう一度しっかり取り上げます！！

英語では、名詞が「数えられる名詞（可算名詞）」なのか、

「数えられない名詞（不可算名詞）」なのかを、ちゃんと区別することが重要です☆

EFFECTIVE SUMMARIES AND CONCLUSION
（効果的な要約と結論）

プレゼンの中での重要ポイントは、焦点がハッキリとしている事と簡潔である事でした。
なぜだか覚えていますか？

人間は情報を非常に早く忘れます。平均の人間の集中力はとても短く、多くの事を考えるのはとても忙しくて、なかなか集中力がもたないものです。
結果として私たちは物事をとてもすぐに忘れがちです、特に話して伝えられたものに関しては。
プレゼンは口頭による情報が多いので、これはプレゼンを行う人にとっては大きな問題です。

聞き手にあなたの話したキーポイントを思い出して貰う一つの方法は、キーポイントを再度話す（REPEAT)事です。一般的なプレゼンのルールは次のように言えます。
"First you tell them what you are going to tell them, then you tell them, and finally you tell them what you told them!"
今まで説明してきたものに置き換えますと次のように書けます。

OVERVIEW: First you tell them what you are going to tell them.
BODY: Then you tell them.
SUMMARY (CONCLUSION): Finally you tell them what you told them.

SummaryやConclusionを言い始める際のサインとして使えるフレーズは、
So, to sum up the main points of my presentation.
Now, I'd like to summarize the main points of my presentation.
In summary.....

第1回で紹介した電子辞書の例で言うと・・・
First, I went over the contents number of our new product we will be introucing this year.
We are ready for providing a brandnew electric dictionary that contains 50,000 words that you have never heard before.

Next, we discussed economic efficiency of the product.
It will be possible for you to reduce 60% of electricity consumption within a year.

Finally, I presented the size of the dictionary.
You will notice this by carrying and using the product outside.

In conclusion, I believe this "E-WORD" will help your English studying and make your future bright.

This is the end of my presentation.
