Fresh Manna—1 Corinthians Chapter 15
What a wonderful passage is the fifteenth chapter of the apostle Paul’s first letter to the Corinthian church! In it, he proves the resurrection of Christ from the dead, answers all those who deny that resurrection, and then points to the resurrection of believers to eternal life. What a day we look forward to when Jesus Christ returns for His church. Then we will understand the believer’s triumph over sin, death, and the grave. And it is for that reason that we must be diligent in His work: “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)!
Fresh Manna—1 Corinthians Chapter 14
This Fresh Manna study continues with the study of Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth as the apostle addresses the issues of tongues and prophecy. The church was founded by Paul on his second missionary journey, but it had become influenced with the evils which surrounded it in a sinful city. In the midst of the first Corinthian epistle comes the clear teaching of maintaining proper order in public assemblies as Paul deals with these issues that continue to cause controversy and misunderstanding today.
Fresh Manna—1 Corinthians Chapter 13
The “love” chapter is one of the most-read and most-memorized of all passages of Scripture, and for good reason. In this brief portion of Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, he pens life-changing principles on the subject of love and charity. The depth of spiritual insight, profound logic, and supernatural understanding of God’s kingdom shines through in this letter, and as we study this portion of Scripture, may we say with the Apostle Paul, “For now we see through a glass, darkly, but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. And now abideth faith, hope, charity (love), these three; but the greatest of these is charity” (1 Corinthians 13:12-13).
Fresh Manna—1 Corinthians Chapter 12
As Pastor Benny Hinn’s study of the book of 1 Corinthians 12 continues, he points to verse 7—“the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.” The nine spiritual gifts were poured out for the advancement of Christianity and the edification of believers. We can be thankful that each gift has its proper place in the body of Christ and that each member is given gifts for the benefit of the whole body and each particular member as we strive to fulfill the Great Commission. We are told to “covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way” (verse 31).
Fresh Manna—1 Corinthians Chapter 11
The Greeks were proud of their philosophy and education, but they were quite immoral. The church at Corinth, founded by the apostle Paul on his second missionary journey, became highly influenced by the sin that surrounded them. Paul penned 1 Corinthians to talk directly about the sinful situation that threatened to destroy the church, and chapter 11 begins with this straightforward words, “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” The chapter continues with teaching of Communion, continuing to demand separation from evil associations. Throughout this letter the apostle’s desire to reach his generation and world with the Gospel shines through gloriously. What a wonderful testimony for us today!
