Ogden Utah has a rich, lively history that goes back to the 1844 when the area was settled by Trapper and Mountain Man Miles Goodyear and originally incorporated as Brownsville in 1851 before being renamed after Peter Skene Ogden who had trapped in the area prior to it being settled.
Ogden's most famous history is it's ties to the joining of the transcontinental railroad and the subsequent use by the Union and Central Pacific as a major hub for passenger and mail trains traveling throughout the west.
While the railroad certainly was a major influence on the history of Ogden, there is much more to Ogden's history that is lesser known. I plan to bring some of these lesser known places, people, and events into the spotlight in an effort to not only learn more personally, but to educate others about the history that surrounds them.
