Speaking Good News
Colossians 4:2-6
Fishers of men speak the good news of Jesus to people. This is what we see as the culminating point of our sermon series. Everyday Disciples speak the gospel with their words. But how? What’s a good tool we can use to do this? In this sermon we ground our thoughts in God’s Word and then get super practical by putting a tool in front of us that can help turn conversations about the brokenness of sin into gospel conversations. -
Prayer Dependent
Mark 8:22-25
Over the past couple of weeks, in our sermon series, we have been getting practical. This morning we turn to another practical and indispensable action in doing the work of fishing for men—embracing our total dependence on prayer. Fishers of Men embrace their dependence on prayer because of our absolute inability to open spiritually blind eyes. Jesus has this power physically proving He has the power spiritually. Thus we lean on Jesus in prayer as we go fishing for men. -
Spirit-Led And Bible-Fed
Acts 8:26-40
Fishers of men are Spirit-led and Bible-fed. That’s what we learn from Philip the evangelist in Acts 8. He serves us by giving practical examples of how to do the work of an evangelist. He walks in step with the Spirit’s leading and when the Spirit leads him to bear witness about Jesus this Bible-fed man knows how open his Bible and point to Jesus. -
Fearless Fishers Of Men
Mark 6:7-13
When it comes to making disciples, the big truths involved with this call make sense for many of us. The struggle we can have though is in knowing how to apply these big truths in everyday life. Like in all areas of life we need help in practical application—and that’s where we start with this sermon. This message rounds the corner in the sermon series to start getting practical. With this message we turn to the very practical matter of fear and how a fearful heart can paralyze us as fishers of men. From Mark 6 we see how the truths/encouragement that Jesus gave to the twelve can help fearful followers of Jesus become fearless fishers of men by relying on Jesus.
