5 wheelchair tennis players from Team USA to compete in River City Slam tournament at Collegiate School
Five wheelchair tennis players from Team USA will be taking part in the River City Slam Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Henrico in June. The tournament, hosted by local adaptive sports club Sportable, is designed to provide a high-level competitive environment for wheelchair tennis players. Autism Society of Central Virginia to host 5k and Family Fun Day May 18
The Autism Society of Central Virginia will host its 22nd Annual 5k & Family Fun Day Saturday, May 18, at Crump Park in Glen Allen. The event will help raise funds for the ASCV's mission of supporting, empowering, and building connections within the autism community. More than 1,200 people are expected to attend. New service from RIC to Jacksonville, Long Island, Baltimore and Nashville begins soon
Southwest Airlines will be launching new routes from Richmond to Baltimore and Nashville June 4. The daily flights to Nashville will leave most days between 10:55 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Return flights daily will arrive in Richmond between 3:20 p.m. and 7:55 p.m., depending upon the day. For details, visit southwest.com. On May 24, Breeze Airways will begin offering nonstop service between Richmond and Jacksonville, Fla., and Richmond and Islip (Long Island), N.Y. Both routes will be seasonal. Trips to and from both destinations will run twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays.

Virginia ABC plans May, June lotteries for Van Winkle products
Six of the most popular products from the Van Winkle family of whiskeys will be available for online purchase via the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority this spring. The ABC's online lotteries will take place May 20-23 and June 10-13 and will allow winning customers to purchase products from the hard-to-find Van Winkle line. 2 Henrico nonprofits benefiting from bank promotion
Two Henrico nonprofits are among seven in the Richmond region that are benefiting each time someone opens a checking and savings account with Chesapeake Bank. The bank will make 0 donations to seven local nonprofits when the new accounts are opened. Included among them: Henrico-based FETCH a Cure and Fatherhood Foundation of Virginia. 5 Henrico students earn $2,500 National Merit Scholarships
Five students from Henrico County schools were among the 65 students in Virginia to win the National Merit ,500 Scholarship Program, which is designed to help students with strong academic records and leadership skills. In total, 2,500 Merit Scholar designees were selected nationally from a talent pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the program. NMSC finances most of the single-payment ,500 scholarships, including all five of those awarded to students from Henrico schools.
