My Problem With Robert Eggers
My review of The Northman, which is really more of a critique of Robert Eggers' filmography more broadly. Style over substance. The cinematic equivalent of a 2 hour eerie ambient soundscape. I use the word "eudaimonia" perhaps erroneously to refer to the sense of emotional fulfillment or drama a good movie is supposed to give you - perhaps the word I was looking for was pathos or catharsis. Films are simulations of life, after all - they're supposed to make you feel alive. I don't feel alive while watching Eggers' movies, just bored.

Season one special — Doctor Who marathon
I'm republishing episodes of my old Doctor Who marathon podcast "The Ood, the Bad and the Ugly". In this special episode recorded in 2019, me and Elliot discuss the podcast so far and the first season of Doctor Who. We also clumsily invent a new Doctor Who themed game show with our friend Toby.
