At 9:12 pm on October 25, 1994, police got an alarming call. The caller, Rick McCloud, Jr, called 911 to report that a woman, who was 23-year-old Susan Smith, had shown up at his family’s house, begging for help. Susan was panicked and said that she had just been carjacked, and that her two children–3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex–were in the car when it was stolen. The driver had taken off with the boys in the back.
