weMove podcast is grounded in the belief that movement is the catalyst to realising a better self. weMove explores the worlds of movement, health and adventure connecting the dots towards living a complete human experience. The strength of the people we connect with isn’t rooted in abstract unattainable philosophies. It’s rooted in the everyday. Their expression of themselves through everyday movement (whatever and wherever that may be) is where the larger things naturally happen. That’s our philosophy. That’s the idea.As we explore these ideas, they may be challenging, they may be confirmation, they may very well be both. Wherever they sit, their difference from the norm plots an alternative path through how to move, live and be. And once we open to that, we can open ourselves up to a life full of play and possibility.weMove to feel alive.

Connecting to our Health and Purpose - Troy Casey - Episode 64

Connecting to our Health and Purpose - Troy Casey - Episode 64

Welcome to the weMove Podcast. Last week we spoke with Jill Miller about the importance of creating a safe space for the body to release and let go of the tension it holds unnecessarily. This week we follow that up with Troy Casey aka @certifiedhealthnut who we ice bathed, and sat with in the glorious Californian sun to hear his route from hedonistic model to a being focussed on the true essence of being a healthy self, and that is to heal thy self. Troy is a CHEK practitioner, fitness and lifestyle coach who looks the result of the protocols and practices he teaches. Both Chris and I were unsure of what to expect when we turned up in Venice, based on his instagram account. Well looks can be deceiving and what followed was such a clear story of his progression from the party hard model to the conduit to support others on their journey to good health. We talk health and healing protocols, plant medicines from simple herbs to the powerful and sacred Ayahuasca and equally importantly the spaces that he and his network create for both men and women to feel safe to connect with their Yin and Yang sides and release the trauma that we carry unknowingly through our lives. Chris and I are big advocates for this type of work in a personal and safe group setting because from our personal experiences so much that happens to us is a result of learned behaviours, modelled to us as we grow up, which then become distorted to the point that we are held back by our own ideas of what we saw. If you do feel a yearning or a desire to find a group of likeminds then follow it. The positive change that comes from making those steps can seem daunting at first but they can set the tone from the day you decide onwards. Hugely worth it.

Do Less With the Body to get More out - Jill Miller - Episode 63

Do Less With the Body to get More out - Jill Miller - Episode 63

Welcome to this weeks weMove podcast. Is something in your body hurting or not clicking right, are you ready to unwind your old assumptions about your body and movement to move forward. This episode might be just what you re looking for. On reflection into how I have tended to do things, I have, up until the last few years been very singular in my activities, life was all about climbing, then about developing a business, that led to running and on and on this went until I felt like I got to the end of the tracks for that way of being. I had no idea what the cost was of the movement/activities I was doing because that was all I was doing. In every instance it led to imbalances and an inevitable break down of the vehicle I was travelling in. My body. And lo and behold this episode is about ways and strategies to regain balance, resilience and connection to what can be done. We are speaking with Jill Miller co-founder of Tune Up Fitness Worldwide and creator of the self-care fitness formats Yoga Tune Up® and The Roll Model® Method. With more than 30 years of study in anatomy and movement, she is a pioneer in forging relevant links between the worlds of fitness, yoga, massage, athletics and pain management. She is known as the Teacher’s Teacher and has trained thousands of movement educators, clinicians, and manual therapists to incorporate her paradigm shifting self-care fitness programming into athletic and medical facility programs internationally. As the creator of some of the world's best mobility tools, she has crafted original programs for 24 Hour Fitness, Equinox, YogaWorks, and numerous professional sports teams. She and her team of 500+ trainers help you to live better in your body with an emphasis on proprioception, mobility, breath mechanics and recovery. This connects well with our Gary Ward episode and also the Rewire Project episode combining new ways of thinking to the worlds of fitness, health and wellbeing. Explore the edges, the opposites and all the grey areas in between. Crossfitters, be uncomfortable in meditation, explore the stillness. Yogi’s? Be under load, lift weights, feel the resistance, feel the opposing forces and experience fully what you and your body can do. Enjoy.
