Perhaps it was an unlikely movie to have spawned a successful mega-franchise for its producers, which includes a sequel (KL Gangster 2), spin-off films (Abang Long Fadil 1 & 2) and TV series (KL Gangster: Underworld S1 & S2), as well as launching the film career of Zizan Raja Lawak, catapulting him towards stardom in Bolehwood. Apart from the usual chat about story structure and themes, we also touch on some darker aspects of the film, from its problematic racial depictions to inappropriate (or likely simply illegal) use of copyrighted music.
