Jen Lewis - Founder + Executive Director of Purse & Clutch

Welcome Back to the Faith-Fully Podcast!

On todays episode I had a conversation with my friend Jen Lewis who is the Founder + Executive Director of Purse & Clutch.  Jen shares her story of humble beginnings and the story behind her fashion brand Purse & Clutch.

    In Jen's Own Words...........

As I spent more & more time in different cultures, I began to see the difference between a handout & long term development - and the important role that steady employment plays in ending generational poverty.

After grad school, a friend of mine moved to India to help with an artisan group making handbags among other things. That’s when it really clicked for me – taking a traditional, indigenous art form, a skillset the men & women already had & connecting them with a market here in the States to provide long-term, sustainable employment.

I sent them a $500 check in exchange for a shipment of block printed handbags. This became Purse & Clutch the boutique in 2011, which transformed into Purse & Clutch the brand in 2016 where we now directly employ artisans Mexico & Ethiopia to make our own designs.

Kirk Craig Co-Founder and Executive Director of Agape Development

Kirk Craig Co-Founder and Executive Director of Agape Development

    Hi Friends,

On this episode of the Faith-Fully Podcast I had a conversation with Kirk Craig who is the Executive Director of Agape Development.  Kirk has been married to his wife Amanda for 18 years and they have 4 children.  Kirk shares the story of how he and Amanda served in Bolivia together and then came back home and in 2005 began their ministry Agape Development.

Before Kirk and Amanda served in Bolivia, Amanda had served a summer in 1998 in Houston’s Greater Third Ward in between semesters of college.  After Kirk and Amanda came home God graciously provided partnership with David and Melissa Hill who had been faithfully serving as urban missionaries long before the Craig’s arrived. David and Melissa, along with their children, lived in the community and modeled the type of ministry Amanda had seen the summer that she served. With the capable guidance of a local board of directors, and the loving partnership of these families, God began to grow the Agape Community in the OST/South Union neighborhood.  Here is their story.

    Walking In Faith,
    Hope Canon

    “My Name Is A Hurricane?”

Tag along on a boy’s journey to find out if his mischievous ways are to blame for sharing his name with a hurricane. Can he change his name? Does he really want to? With fun rhymes and a touching message, this book reminds us that good things can come out of a bad situation like a hurricane—even when your name is the same.

"Quarantine Talks" Series Talking to Keri Henry

"Quarantine Talks" Series Talking to Keri Henry

Welcome Back Friends!  I hope you are having a blessed week.  Today my guest is Keri Henry.  She is Houston born and raised. Left Houston for College at Texas A&M College Station, then to study Spanish abroad in Spain and South America. Moved back to Houston and has been here ever since.  Keri has worked in the corporate world, as a 2nd and 4th grade teacher, she attempted a food business, then worked as a freelance food stylist, and now works in the wine business and is doing public speaking and fundraising "on the side".

Keri Henry is someone who gets of the sofa and makes things happen.  When Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, TX in 2017, Kerri lead a dispatch team and organized getting rescue boats to people in need throughout the city.  Her tenacity didn't stop there as one of Cajun Navy guys connected Keri to a warehouse in Houston that was a brewery and she worked on the relief side and helped organize a make shift distribution center .  After her relief efforts in her hometown she went on to help organize disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico and also in the California wildfires that same year.  Now with Covid 19 she made a choice to act again and has helped with donating, receiving donations and delivering care packages for medical workers throughout our great city of Houston, TX.  You are going to be inspired by Keri's story to take a leap of faith and make things happen!
