In today’s story, Philip is driven by the Spirit of God to go south from Jerusalem to Gaza. Along the path, he comes across, and I’m quoting verse 27, an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official of the Candace, queen of the Ethiopians in charge of her entire treasury. This unnamed Ethiopian eunuch, whom many would consider a sexual minority, became the first Christian in Africa. And he is the patron saint of Ethiopia. All because Philip threw caution to the wind and crossed the boundaries others had placed in the way.

In the opening of Acts 3, we find Peter and John heading to afternoon prayer. Fresh off of Pentecost and the influx of the Holy Spirit, Peter encounters a lame man begging for alms – who is healed. The healing was proof that Jesus was still a living presence in his followers and could transform the world. We discuss what it means to encounter miracle in our lives.
