    Race vs Ethnicity

    Race vs Ethnicity

An episode created from an experience. I can remember I have been asked “what I was?”. A question that seems harmless and simple. Unfortunately, even when I respond, I have been told what “label” I fall under and what I “look like”. It is a question many get asked not just in the AAPI community but across all communities. These are key to our identities, and all are different and unique in their way. Importance of learning and being aware of the difference of Race vs Ethnicity has always been important, but not always a priority.

    Asian in America

    Asian in America

What do you think when you hear the phrase “Asian In America”? Ideas may flood your mind, but at the same time, none may come at all. Joined by a friend I met in high school, Marie A., a student, a daughter, an Asian American. She comes from a different background than me and provides insight into the "Model Minority Myth". What it is and how it affects us all.

*This episode was recorded in early April. Please be aware that events since then have passed. Both Marie and I recognize and respect what has happened since then.*

    What is AAPI?

    What is AAPI?

Hello everybody! Happy May! May is AAPI month, and if you don't know what the acronym stands for, take a listen! I talk about the history, what the acronym stands for, and not just the words themselves. I also recommend books, movies, and other ways to learn and be an ally to the community. I briefly speak about the current climate but will save my words for a later episode. I hope you all tune in and learn something new!
