I first met Sean at the Los Angeles Post Production Group and he later talked to me about his path to dialogue editing.

Some terms used:

Alt - Alternative take

PFX - any kind of sound effect captured during filming aside from footsteps, cloth movement - (from

M&E (M&E Track) - A sound track with the mixed music and effects on separate channels and no dialogue. This track is sent to foreign countries to create versions of the film in their language. (from The Film Editor's Handbook by Norman Hollyn)
