I had the pleasure to meet the super creative Michael Galen from Portland during his recent stay in Senegal and he talks about his observations & experiences while expanding his drumming and dancing range.  And check out his vocal imitation of the tama!

Having breakfast with Massamba in Dakar while he chatted briefly of rhythm inspirations on the tama, or talking drum.  The tama is a west African drum instrument played under one arm and can produce various pitches that imitate the human voice.   Massamba Diop is a renowned master of the tama.
