George Floyd (8-10 mins; multiple questions)

*Black and E discuss the one year anniversary of George Floyd’s death

Wanted to acknowledge that it has been a year since George Floyd died under the knee of a then-Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin … who is white

In Minneapolis, people gathered throughout the day to remember Floyd near the site where he died, an area that has come to be known as George Floyd Square

9 minutes, 29 seconds — the length of time Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd's neck.

Chauvin was convicted of murder last month and is scheduled to be sentenced June 25.

Floyd's sister, Bridgett Floyd, did not travel to Washington to meet Biden.

She said she didn't meet with Biden because he hasn't delivered on his promise to enact police reform legislation named after her brother by the first anniversary of Floyd's death

TRAUMA IS passed down

A growing body of research suggests that trauma (like from extreme stress or starvation among many other things) can be passed from one generation to the next. Here's how: Trauma can leave a chemical mark on a person's genes, which can then be passed down to future generations.-Epigenetics

Instead it alters the mechanism by which the gene is converted into functioning proteins, or expressed. The alteration isn’t genetic. It’s epigenetic.
