UK's Olly Alexander releases "Dizzy", Australia, Iceland, and Serbia songs revealed!
On this episode of Éirevision, Conor and Lou share their thoughts on the latest entries revealed for Eurovision 2024. We've had so many songs released over the last ten days. Today, we're catching up as the United Kingdom's Olly Alexander releases his ESC song - "Dizzy". Australia, Iceland, and Serbia have also chosen their songs!
Back in December 2023, the BBC announced Olly Alexander as the UK representative. Of course, everyone will know Olly from his time as lead singer of Years and Years and his acting credentials such as It's a Sin. Longtime Eurovision fan Olly has decided to rep the UK with the song, "Dizzy" - a song written by himself together with Danny L. Harle.
Australia have been keeping their representative under lock and key. But not anymore! Australia Decides 2019 runners-up Electric Fields have been internally selected by SBS to head to Malmö with "One Milkali (One Blood)". The song is sung in English, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara, which is an Aboriginal language of the Anangu peoples – one of the oldest living cultures on earth.
Serbia's Pesma za Evroviziju 24 concluded at the weekend. Despite many worthy songs competing, the trophy and honour of representing Serbia went to Teya Dora with "Ramonda".
Finally, Iceland's Söngvakeppnin 2024 came to an end with Hera Björk taking the crown. She previously represented Iceland at Eurovision in 2010 with "Je ne sais quoi". Unlike previous years, the winner of Söngvakeppnin will not represent Iceland at Eurovision. Instead, the broadcaster RÚV and the winning artist will decide together if they wish the participate at Eurovision 2024.

Over the last week, SEVEN countries revealed their representatives for Eurovision 2024 and in today's episode, we'll be chatting about: Switzerland, Netherlands, Cyprus, and Austria.
We found Nemo! Switzerland unveiled Nemo and the song "The Code" as their selection for Malmö after an internal competition. Nemo is a non-binary Swiss rapper, singer, and musician and their song "The Code" is about the journey they started with the realization that they are neither a man nor a woman.
The Netherlands announced in December 2023 that Joost Klein would represent them and we've finally gotten his song! "Europapa" is about an orphan who travels throughout Europe to find himself and tell his story and is a tribute to his father.
Back in September 2023, the Cypriot broadcaster announced Cypriot-Australian singer, dancer, and actress Silia Kapsis for Eurovision 2024. After months of anticipation, "Liar" was released to the public. Since 2015, Cyprus has qualified for the final seven times, and failed only once in 2022. Silia will be hoping to continue their success but will she be able to?
Finally, Friday saw Austria officially unveil techno-pop inspired song, "We Will Rave" by Kaleen. She has Eurovision experience too as at Eurovision 2018, Kaleen was the step-in singer during rehearsals for many countries.
