א' הדברים שבזכותם יצאו בנ"י ממצרים הי' מה "שלא שינו את לבושם". א' מיסודי הצניעות (בעיקר בנשים ובנות) – מה שבולט לעין, שהוא הלבוש. וזוהי ההוראה, שאפי' ב"מצרים" צ"ל "לא שינו את לבושם", אפי' אם זה קשה. ודוקא הנהגה זו גורמת לנשיאות-חן ולהערכה בעיני אוה"ע. ועוד פרט: בין מליוני בנ"י שהיו במדבר, אומרת התורה שרק "אחת היתה" שקלקלה – "שלומית בת דברי". וזו היתה תוצאה מזה ש"דברנית היתה", חסרון בצניעות הדיבור. היינו שצ"ל ענין הצניעות לא רק באופן הלבוש אלא גם באופן הדיבור בבית וברחוב. ובזכות ההנהגה באופן של צניעות יוציא ה' את בנ"י גם מגלות זו; כל יהודי צריך להתאחד עם כ"א מבנ"י ובפרט עם אלו הנמצאים בא"י – הנה יה"ר שיקויים בהם מ"ש "ושכבתם ואין מחריד", שגם בשעת ה"שכיבה" אין אפי' מי שיפחידם, כי "ה' שומרך". שגם לזה צריך את ענין הצניעות, וכמ"ש "כי ה"א מתהלך בקרב מחניך להצילך ולתת אויביך לפניך .. ולא יראה בך ערות דבר וגו'".

Synopsis
One of the things in whose merit the Jewish people left Egypt was that “they did not change their clothing.” Even in “Egypt,” one must “not change their clothing,” even if it is difficult, and this will cause the Jewish people to find favor in the eyes of the nations around them. The Torah also tells us that from the millions of Jews in the desert, only one fell into sin, Shlomis bas Divri, and it was the result of her being “very talkative,” meaning a lack of tznius in her speech. That is, tznius applies not only to one’s manner of dress, but also to one’s manner of speech. In the merit of tznius, Hashem will likewise take us out of this exile. Every Jew must unite with all Jews, especially those in Eretz Yisrael; may Hashem fulfill for them the verse “…you will lie down and no one will frighten” you, meaning, not only will no one harm them, rather, there won’t even be anyone to frighten them, because “Hashem is your Guardian.” This also requires tznius, as it says, “For Hashem your G-d walks in the midst of your camp to save you and to deliver your enemies before you,” because “He sees no unseemly matter in you etc.”
