הענין ד"מגלה פנים בתורה שלא כהלכה" [אבות פרק ג'] בא מזה שהאדם הוא "משוחד" ו"אוהב את עצמו" עד שהוא מתבייש להודות בטעותו, עד שמצדיק א"ע ע"י ש"מגלה פנים וכו'". והנה כשהאדם לומד תורה באופן של "אחוריים", בלי חשק, אינו שייך בכלל לפסוק הלכה ובמילא גם לא ל"מגלה.. שלא כהלכה", וע"ד פתגם אדמו"ר מהריי"צ שכדי להיות "אפיקורס" צריך לדעת משהו שיוכל להכחישו... לא שייך לשבת "קנאַקן סעמיטשקעס" ולהיות "אפיקורס" – הוא עם הארץ ולא אפיקורס!... כדי להיות "מגלה .. שלא כהלכה" צריך ללמוד תורה בהתמדה ולהתעמק בזה עד שזה ניכר ב"פנים" וכו'. ואדם זה שהוא "משוחד" ה"ה מתייגע בתורה כדי לפסוק להיפך משו"ע!! וכדי שזה לא ייראה כאילו הוא סומך ע"ע, הוא מקים "וועדה" עם אנשים בעלי-תואר ברפואה ובהיסטורי' וכיו"ב, בעלי-הצלחה במשחקי "פוט-באָל" – שיודעים "להכניס" את הכדור גם ברגל השמאלי... – שאין ל"תוארים" אלו שום קשר ל"הלכה", ומשלמים להם אלפי דולרים מכספי הציבור, ולוחץ עליהם שיפסקו ש"שתים ועוד שתים שווה חמש" – לומר על ענין שמבטל דין בשו"ע שזהו יהדות!!!

Synopsis
“Interpreting the Torah not in accordance with the halacha” [Pirkei Avos ch. 3] results from a person being so “bribed” by his self-love that he is too ashamed to admit when he errs, and instead justifies himself by interpreting the Torah as though his actions were correct. When a person studies Torah as an afterthought, without passion, he cannot issue a halachic ruling at all, therefore, he also can’t “interpret the Torah not in accordance with the halachah.” As the Rebbe, my father-in-law, would say, in order to be an apikores, one must really know what it is he is denying…once can’t just be knaken semitchkes (“cracking sunflower seeds”) and be an apikores – that would be an am ha’aretz, not an apikores. To “interpret the Torah contrary to the halacha, one must learn diligently and acquire deep knowledge until he discerns its “face” etc. And this person who is motivated by personal considerations, toils in Torah, in order to issue rulings that defy the Shulchan Aruch! And to create the appearance that he isn’t just relying on his own authority, he establishes a “committee” with academics in medicine and history etc., people who are successful at “football” – who know how to get the ball into the goal with the left foot – they have “degrees” with no connection to halacha, and are paid thousands of dollars of public funds, and pressured to decide that “two plus two is five” – to say that something that goes against halacha is Judaism, G-d forbid.
