לקט סיפורים בקשר לכ"ק אדמו"ר מהר"ש נ"ע: 1) מה שהצ"צ אמר אודותיו "וואָס איז דער פלא אַז "תפארת שבתפארת" האָט אַזאַ ענין". 2) בתחלת נשיאות הצ"צ התקשו החסידים להבין סגנון המאמרים. פעם שאלו את אדמו"ר מהר"ש, הוא הי' אז כבן 6-7, ובאמצע משחק, על מקור ופירוש של מדרש מסויים שהובא במאמר, וענה מיד! 3) היתה אצלו הרחבה גדולה בגשמיות, הכל הי' עשוי מזהב וכו'. אאזמו"ר לאחרי החתונה שלו הי' מה"יושבים" אצל אדמו"ר מהר"ש במשך כמה חדשים [לא כמו הסדר כאן שהזוג הצעיר נוסע ל"ירח-דבש" מיד לאחרי החתונה למרות כל המכשולים וכו'. והלואי היו מבטלים מנהג רע זה], כשחזר משם, שאלוהו א' מהו הענין בהנהגה זו, הרי ניתן לתת את הכסף לצדקה? וענהו: "פעטאַח פעטאַח, צוליב וועמען דען איז באַשאַפן די גאָלד"?!". עוד סיפור בקשר ל"רחבות" שלו: הי' לו סדר שכל בוקר הי' נוסע בעגלה רתומה ל-4-6 סוסים ליער למשך זמן. היו יכולים לחשוב שהוא הולך ל"טיול", עד אשר, לאחר לחץ של החסידים וכיו"ב, תיאר הבעל-עגלה הגוי את ה"הנהגה המוזרה" שהוא רואה: כאשר מגיעים ליער, מתיישב הרבי מתחת עץ ומתחיל לבכות, בעוד כל יתושי הסביבה רוחשים עליו וכו'...! לא "טיול" אלא סיגופים!

Synopsis
A collection of stories about the Rebbe Maharash: (1) When the Rebbe Maharash’s teacher told his father, the Tzemach Tzedek, how well he was doing, his father replied, “Why are you surprised that Tiferes Sheb’Tiferes does well?” (2) The Chassidim once asked the Rebbe Maharash, who was six or seven years old at the time and in middle of playing, to provide the source for a certain Midrash the Tzemach Tzedek had cited in a maamar, and he answered them immediately. (3) The Rebbe Maharash lived an exceptionally wealthy lifestyle, with everything made of gold etc. After my grandfather’s wedding, he spent time as one of the “sitters” at the court of the Rebbe Maharash (unlike nowadays when young couples run off after the wedding to a “honeymoon,” subjecting themselves to numerous stumbling blocks etc.; would that this bad practice be abolished). When he returned from Lubavitch, someone asked him why the Rebbe Maharash lives so lavishly, when he could give the money to tzedakah etc.? He replied, “Fool, fool, for whom was the gold created?” Another story about the Rebbe Maharash’s lavish lifestyle: every morning his coachmen would drive him into the forest with a carriage harnessed to four or six horses etc. One day, the Chassidim got the coachman to divulge the “strange conduct” he observed on these daily trips: the Rebbe would sit under a tree and cry, with all the ants crawling on him etc. People might have thought it was a trip for leisure, but to the contrary, the Rebbe was afflicting himself.
