If you're a board director, the company secretary is your best friend.
That might sound strange. But let's start by clearing up a misconception. Despite the name, the role is not clerical or secretarial. The company secretary ensures that decisions of the board of directors are implemented. But they do so much more than that too!
On today's show, we hear from Doug Chia. Doug is Executive Director of The Conference Board Governance Center. Prior to that, he was the corporate secretary for Johnson & Johnson. So he's an expert on these matters.
Doug provides context about the role of governance and the job duties of a board director. He then explains how these connect to the corporate secretary and how this person is the primary liaison for directors.
