Introducing a three part series with retired professor and Dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Southeast Missouri State University. In 2004, her son Leslie was killed by police. Dr. Prater has made it her mission to prevent police misconduct and brutality ever since. She discusses her efforts to get accountability for her son and the work she does so that other families are spared what she
experienced. In March, Dr. Prater and Sybrina Fulton (the mother of Trayvon
Martin) spoke at the University of Delaware’s Ida B. Wells Lecture. This
three-part series captures Dr. Prater’s story. You can also learn more by
