101: Today in AI: ChatGPT Ads Leaked, What Is AI Debate, DeepMind Doc Free on YouTube (90 characters)

Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 1 December 2025 Summary: The big news today is that ChatGPT ads are basically confirmed at this point. We've got leaked code from the Android beta showing multiple ad types - search ads, carousel formats, and something called a "bazaar content wrapper" which could be some kind of shop integration. I've been banging on about this for ages because, well, of course they're adding ads. How else are they going to make money? They've imported about 630 former Meta employees, which makes perfect sense when you remember that Meta, Google, and most big tech companies are primarily advertising businesses. Expect the free accounts to get ads while paid subscribers stay ad-free. I also spent some time clearing up the whole "what actually is AI" debate that's been raging on Twitter (X). There's so much confusion between artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and the different flavours like narrow AI versus AGI. People keep saying things like "ChatGPT isn't actually AI" which is just… not true. And speaking of real AI achievements, there's a brilliant new documentary called The Thinking Game about DeepMind, now free on YouTube. It follows the team behind AlphaFold, which solved a 50-year-old biology problem and won Demis Hassabis a Nobel Prize. Highly recommend giving it a watch. 100: Today in AI: MIT Job Study Debunked, Deloitte AI Scandal, Chinese AI Homework Monitors

Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 28 November 2025 Summary: Today I'm cutting through the falsehood on two major AI headlines that have been doing the rounds. First up: that MIT study claiming AI can replace 11.7% of the US workforce? Complete misrepresentation. I actually dug into the research (because apparently journalists can't be bothered), and it's not about replacing workers at all—it's about skill exposure in specific industries like finance and healthcare. The study uses a simulation tool called the Iceberg Index that breaks jobs down into individual tasks and skills, not entire positions. But of course, CNBC and others ran with a sensational headline that suggests one in ten people are about to lose their jobs, which is utter nonsense. I break down exactly why the methodology doesn't support that claim and why we need to be way more critical when reading these headlines. Then there's the absolutely hilarious news that Deloitte got caught—again—just running client questions through ChatGPT and charging them a million quid for "expert consultation." This is the second time this year, which is frankly embarrassing for them and probably terrifying for the entire consultancy industry. I reckon this is the beginning of the end for these massive advisory firms because why would anyone pay eye-watering fees when they could just use AI themselves? Also covered: Chinese parents using AI assistants to monitor their kids' homework, which sounds dystopian but actually opens up some fascinating possibilities for personal trainers, posture correction, and focus coaching. Lots to unpack in this one. 099: Today in AI: Flux Two Rivals Imagen at 1/5th Cost, Open Source vs Closed, Running Models Locally

Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 27 November 2025 Summary: Relatively slow news day today, so I decided to dive into Flux Two, the new open source image generation model from Black Forest Labs. It's genuinely impressive — almost as good as Google's Imagen (or "Nano Banana Pro" as I keep calling it), but here's the kicker: it costs about 3 cents per image versus Imagen's 15 cents. That's five times cheaper for nearly the same quality. Flux One was brilliant at generating images almost instantaneously, and Flux Two keeps that speed whilst matching the big boys on quality. It's the kind of thing that actually matters if you're building applications or doing proper design work, not just making party tricks. Off the back of that, I went into what open source actually means because there's a lot of confusion out there. People think open source equals free and closed source equals paid, but it's more nuanced than that. The Chinese labs are pushing hard on open source whilst American companies are closing everything down, and I reckon both approaches will stick around. I showed everyone how to run models locally on their computers or phones using tools like LM Studio and Hugging Face — it's worth trying just to see how it works. Not suggesting you should train your own models from scratch (please don't, the computational requirements are mad), but fine-tuning and deploying existing ones is genuinely accessible now. 098: Today in AI: Google TPUs Challenge Nvidia, US Genesis Mission Rivals Manhattan Project, Jobs at Risk

Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 26 November 2025 Summary: Google's having quite the week, aren't they? Fresh off launching Gemini 3 and absolutely dominating the AI headlines, they're now properly shaking up the hardware game by selling their TPU chips to Meta and Anthropic. This is massive because for years, Nvidia has been the only game in town for training AI models—they hit 5 trillion in market cap basically by being everyone's sole supplier of GPUs. But Google's been quietly building their own Tensor Processing Units, trained Gemini 3 on them, and now they're opening the doors to everyone else. Anthropic's already expanding their TPU usage significantly, and Meta's in talks for what could be a billion-dollar deal. The shift from general-purpose GPUs to specialized TPUs is genuinely fascinating—they're more efficient, cheaper to run, and apparently better at the specific maths required for training language models. Meanwhile, Trump's just launched something called the Genesis Mission, which the US Secretary of Energy is comparing to the Manhattan Project and Apollo missions—so, you know, no pressure. They're essentially handing over $200 billion worth of federal scientific research data to an AI system, which is honestly audacious bordering on wild. This comes straight from America's AI Action Plan, which is very openly about countering China in the AI race. I don't know who's building this AI or how it'll actually work, and frankly we might be laughing at this in a month, but I do appreciate the sheer ambition of it. It's a proper "throw everything at the wall and see what sticks" moment, and whether it's brilliant or a complete mess, it's certainly going to be interesting to watch unfold. Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 25 November 2025 Summary: Anthropic just dropped Claude Opus 4.5, and honestly, it's brilliant. I've been testing it overnight and this morning, and it's smashing through coding problems that had me stuck for ages. The benchmarks are predictably stellar—37.6 on the ARC AGI test versus Gemini 3's 31.1—but more importantly, the usage limits actually seem reasonable this time. Unlike Opus 4.1 which was basically unusable after a handful of attempts, you can now actually integrate this into your workflow without hitting walls constantly. The interesting bit is watching these labs leapfrog each other week after week. We've had three state-of-the-art models in seven days, and whilst I'm desperate to actually build things with these tools, keeping up with the releases is becoming a full-time job. Anthropic's staying laser-focused on coding and writing rather than chasing video generation or voice modes, which I respect. I also covered Andre Karpathy's thoughts on AI in education—basically, we might need to flip classrooms entirely because we can't trust homework anymore. Plus OpenAI's quietly rolling out shopping research just before Black Friday, which feels like the first move towards inevitable AI advertising. Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 24 November 2025 Summary: I spent most of this stream dissecting the Claude Opus 4.5 rumours—apparently it's hidden in the API and might drop today or tomorrow. The thing is, Anthropic has this annoying habit of making their best models practically unusable with severe rate limits. Opus could be brilliant for coding, but if you hit your daily cap after three prompts, what's the point? Meanwhile, OpenAI's Codex 5.1 Max and Gemini 3 are chipping away at Claude's coding advantage, so it'll be interesting to see if Anthropic can actually make this one accessible. We also touched on the UK government's AI plans—£14 billion going into infrastructure, which sounds impressive until you realize it's mostly about data centres and compute rather than anything transformative for the public sector. I ranted a bit about HMRC's labyrinthine login system (because I spent my weekend drowning in Gov UK authentication layers), discussed why Grok's Flux-based image generator is surprisingly good, and flagged Google's Movember campaign where they'll donate £11 to charity for every AI-generated moustache photo. Not a bad way to end the stream, really. Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ | First aired: 21 November 2025 Summary: I spent most of this week absolutely buzzing about Google because they've been releasing some genuinely impressive stuf, and I'm not someone who says that lightly. Nano Banana Pro dropped this week with proper text rendering in images, which sounds trivial until you realise you can now generate entire infographics, comics, and educational graphics that actually work. I've been using it to turn my newsletter into cartoons and building automation in Cursor to do this automatically. Beyond image generation, Google announced Gemini 2.0 Flash, which is their first genuinely agentic model that can control computers and browse the web autonomously. It's faster than GPT 4, costs less, and I'm starting to think Google might actually have a shot at winning this race. The catch, and it's a massive one, is that Google still needs to figure out how to monetise all this without destroying their existing advertising empire. They're sitting on the best vertical integration in AI—owning everything from TPUs to Chrome to Android—but they're going to have to cannibalise their own cash cow eventually. Nobody wants to be the first company to shove ads into AI results, but someone's going to blink, and when they do, it'll change everything. We also got GPT 5.1 Codex Max and rumblings of Opus 4.5 from Anthropic, but honestly, this was Google's week through and through. Check out Freedom OS: https://aiwithkyle.com/join-freedom-os This video is from the ‘AI with Kyle News and Updates Live Stream’ First aired: 20 November 2025 Summary: Today I covered some fascinating developments in the AI world, starting with the revelation that Gemini 3 was built using Google's own TPU chips rather than Nvidia's GPUs. This is huge because Google basically just told the entire industry they don't need to be dependent on Nvidia anymore, whilst everyone else is begging Jensen Huang for more chip sets. They've built a state-of-the-art model on their own hardware, which gives them control of the entire vertical from chips to applications. That's a proper moat. I also looked at Nvidia's earnings call, which showed they're still doing remarkably well despite Google's TPU flex. Then we touched on OpenAI's new coding model release, which conveniently came right after Gemini 3's launch and highlights an area where Gemini apparently still struggles. Finally, I covered the increasingly personal spat between Gary Marcus and Yann LeCun, which has escalated from academic bickering to outright accusations of plagiarism. The whole debate touches on fundamental questions about how we'll actually achieve AGI—pure scaling versus hybrid approaches—and it's getting quite nasty.
