The first purpose of the Law is life.  Abiding by the Law allows for a flourishing of life.

The flourishing of life is a gift.

The second purpose of the Law, as Nathan uses it, is to convict of sin.  

The conviction of sin is also part of the flourishing of life and it, too, is a gift.  

How is the conviction of sin a gift?
