    • Education

For the final episode of the first season of the JoukBox, Karl and Ciara sat down with a special guest. Sue Alcock was the inaugural Director of the Joukowsky Institute for Archaeology and the Ancient World, serving in that role from 2006 to 2015.

She’s well known for her work on the archaeology of memory, particularly in Roman Greece. We had a wide-ranging discussion about her career as an archaeologist, from digging outside with a teaspoon as a child to teaching a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) on archaeology.
