Holly Williams has a passion to coach leaders to build their leadership capacity in transforming the cultures in which they lead. She’s done this work for over 15 years, working with executives and teams who are committed to leadership development through coaching. Holly is a co-faculty member with me at the University of Texas at Dallas. She is also on the faculty at Georgetown University’s Insitute for Transformational Leadership. In her exploration of team and group coaching today, we are looking at how team and group coaching help to evolve cultures. Holly co-authored Being Coached: Group and Team Coaching from the Inside, in 2014 with Dr. Ann Deaton, who has also been on the show. Holly’s second book, Build a Coaching Culture From the Inside, is coming out soon! Today, we’re discussing the value proposition that group and team coaching brings, how to engage organizations in the idea of doing group and team coaching, as well as the concept of paying it forward in empowering leaders to bring coaching principles and the impact of coaching into their organizations.

Show Highlights:

* Distinctions between team and group coaching in the approach and their impact

* How to set up the team coaching when the leader is part of the group—and still do honest and deep work

* Important questions Holly asks: Have you done your performance management? Do you have a clear strategy? How much stability do you have in your organization over the next six months? Are you willing to be coached as the leader and be a role model?

* The importance of a clear coaching agreement with each person

* How to address the logical concerns team members might have

* Where Holly gets clients: through word of mouth and partnering with other coaches

* How transformation happens when clients are looking to build more collaboration, innovation, and connection
