Teresa shared about how important it is to advocate for yourself. Over and over women talk about being upset and angry with how they were treated or not treated by medical staff. Being dismissed is a huge problem. She talked about speaking up if your gut is not feeling comfortable with your care. If you have questions or don't understand, speak up. If your emotions are heightened or you are in pain, make sure you have a family member or friend that will advocate for you.
Communication with your partner or spouse while going through infertility or loss is most important. Emotions due to increased hormones and grief can really cause couples to be on edge. Have open conversations with each other to really have a better understanding of what your partner is feeling. Teresa talked about how high the separation and divorce rates are with couples that have had loss or infertility struggles. Definitely not an easy journey for anyone and you want to have a great relationship when you bring a baby into your family.
For those that are friends and family to those on this journey. Remember to ALWAYS take a "Pregnancy Pause" before asking any questions about pregnancy.
On almost every episode the guest of the podcast gives amazing encouragement and insight to help you to advocate for yourself. They are always available and willing, so reach out to them. They have a wealth of knowledge and many have traveled a similar path to become a mom of living children.
Reach out to Teresa with questions or to be connected with someone, this should be at the top of the list due to her knowledge, resources and connections she has across the country.
