When I was a kid, they put me in an honors class but I had just seen Cheech and Chong at the drive-in with my older sister! And I made some kind of comment about smoking in my assignment, it was a little joke and they took it down!
First time I was censored as an artist, it was about third grade so I was around 9 years old.
The second time my artwork was censored was at Oxford. I spent a lot of time cutting up articles from The #Economist to create an image of a woodpecker, pecking at a "nest" in a saguaro. Except the woodpecker's beak was made up of George W Bush's shoe (remember somebody threw a shoe at him which is an ultimate insult in Muslim society LOL 😆); and the nest was a bunch of Afghan men. My college tutor at Oxford, basil kouvaritakis, explain to me the reason my masterpiece could not be in St Edmund Hall's art week was because it was "TOO POLITICAL".
So now I make it a point to always stick a phatty and all my characters mouths 😆 and my main source of inspiration? It was my animals and then the police came and took them all away for no f** reason at all
It was like the end of The sound of music when the N@zis come and shut down all the singing and dancing and playing
I get the impression the powers that be don't want us to know anything about the rest of the planet, to learn to respect or appreciate other peoples, because we'd realize we're all in the same boat together! As a student of history, I was privileged & had the foresight and interest to travel the world before this s* show came into town.
They don't want us to travel the world and see for ourselves how beautiful it is! They want to keep us in this one large concentration camp, where like a boa constrictor, the prison guards are slowly strangling us all to death, taking away our freedoms left and right; failing to do their damn job to protect us and get rid of and disqualify these damn insurrectionists
