17. Mary Kate Morrissey: Broadway Actor // Rediscovering Elphaba, Originating Janis in Mean Girls National Tour, Family, Faith & Your IG Questions Answered!

A Time To Live with Amanda Jane Cooper

I have been changed for good! Had to. Today we welcome Mary Kate Morrissey. Two Pennsylvania gals, MK and AJC (also had to) met in 2015 on the National Tour of WICKED. Mary Kate now serves as the Elphaba Standby at the Gershwin - her Broadway debut! Listen as we discuss her path, what she’s discovering afresh and how her family and faith play key roles in her on and off stage life. Oh, and your questions from IG! Mary Kate Morrissey is most recognized for her portrayal of Elphaba in the National Tour of WICKED, playing 35 cities including Chicago in 2018. Previously she originated the role of alien art freak Janis Sarkisian in the National Touring Company of MEAN GIRLS. She spent a decade touring and performing regionally in a total of 95 cities and is thrilled to call New York City (well, Brooklyn) home while she is currently making her Broadway debut in Wicked as the Elphaba Standby. She spent the pandemic interim building a virtual musical theater school with best friend Ginna Claire Mason that served as home to a 100+ community members ages 5-30 called Double Name Witches and is a passionate arts educator and mentor, believing in the life changing power of musical theater. Affirmations for artists by MK: I am an artist; therefore, I choose faith over fear. I am good at this. I love my voice. The world needs what I have to give. @maryspacekate www.marykatemorrissey.com Please give us a rate, review and follow. Many thanks! Produced by @onairwithq
